Cold north with unsettled Mediterranean

Saturday


Much colder across eastern Europe today has temperatures plummet to below zero for highs. Some zero temperatures are also affected across most of Scandinavia. Generally cold again across much of Europe. Heavy snow is in the forecast for Finland a dry day across Russia and the Baltic States. Some light snow is expected across Belarus into southern parts of Germany across into Austria and the Alps where it will become heavier. Northern parts of Poland will be wet with rain. Some snow in the far south of Germany as well with rain in the extreme north. A few showers to come across Holland and Belgium today. Most of northern France be fair and dry as will England. Mostly dry across the Balkans and the Adriatic Region as an area of heavy rain runs up across Greece, the southern half of Italy into Sicily. Unsettled across western Mediterranean as well. Outbreaks of rain are expected across the Balearics with showers around Corsica and Sardinia. Some rain will edge into the far north of Spain with central and southern parts of Spain and Portugal dry.

Sunday


A cool and breezy day through Spain and Portugal today. There will be a few showers in the east but dry to the west. More unsettled in the central Mediterranean with low pressure bringing rain through the Balearics and Italy and well as Greece. Turkey should be drier with some sunshine. A fair day to come across central and northern France. A few showers in the Low Countries and northern parts of Germany. Windy with some snow in northern Poland, but fair to the south. Fair through Switzerland and Hungary as well as Austria. A windy and cool day in Norway and Denmark with some heavy, wintry showers. More wind and showers in Sweden, and some snow showers to come through the Baltic States. Snow showers in Finland too.

A very unsettled and windy day across the Mediterranean with gales, heavy rain and heavy blustery showers from the Balearics east across Italy into Greece with snow across the Adriatic Region. Cold across Europe today. An area of heavy snow is forecast across Finland into Russia and Belarus with rain across the Baltic States into northern parts of Poland and Germany. A dry day across southern Poland, southern Germany and for much of France, Belgium and Holland. Cold but dry across much of Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Dry across much of the Balkans and Turkey today. Lots of sunshine is expected across Spain and Portugal but a cold day across Iberia.

Monday


It continues cold across much of Europe. An area of heavy snow is forecast across Russia with snow showers across the Ukraine. Snow across Greece, E Europe

Today


It continues cold across much of Europe today. An area of heavy snow is forecast across Russia with snow showers across the Ukraine. Cold but expect a good deal of dry weather across Finland, The Baltic States into Poland, Germany and France through Spain and Portugal. Strong winds and heavy rain and showers continues from the Balearics into Italy, Greece and into Bulgaria while most of Turkey is dry. Fair and dry today across Belgium and Holland. For the Adriatic Region and the northern Balkans it also looks fair and dry but cold.

Tuesday


High pressure will give much of Europe a settled, dry day. Expect dry but rather cold conditions from Spain into France across into the Low Countries through Poland and The Ukraine. Heavy snow showers will affect Norway with cloud and light rain into Sweden with a mainly dry day across Finland. Snow is expected across northern Russia with rain across the Baltic States. Plenty of showers to come from the Balearics across into the far south of Italy with snow across Greece. Much of Italy should be fine and dry. Mainly dry but cold across Turkey, Romania and the Ukraine. Most of the Balkans and the Adriatic Region will be also cold but dry with sunny spells.

High pressure is in charge across much of central continental Europe, with dry and fine conditions for many areas. Spain and Portugal will see good spells of sunshine on Tuesday, with just a few showers possible along the south-eastern Costas and the Balearics. Italy will see some heavy and thundery rain in the south, whilst it is dry in the north. Showers also affect the Balkan states and Greece. Strong winds affect Greece and Turkey too. Dry weather affects France, Germany and the Alpine states, although feeling cold. More cloud will affect northern regions however, with blustery winds for Denmark and the Baltic. Some showers affect Scandinavia, with more frequent snow showers in the west of Norway

Wednesday


Bright and sunny weather for Portugal, Spain and France on Wednesday. Just an isolated shower possible in southern Spain. Italy sees an improvement too, with mostly dry conditions. Bright and sunny weather for Portugal, Spain and France on Wednesday. Just an isolated shower possible in southern Spain. Italy sees an improvement too, with mostly dry conditions. A scattering of showers for Greece and remaining breezy. Some persistent rain for southern Turkey with mountain snow. Plenty of cloud across northern France, Belgium and Germany with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle around North Sea coasts. Switzerland and Austria are dry with sunny spells. Dry weather for eastern Europe, with more cloud in Poland. Rain spreads into the Baltic states, whilst Finland and Sweden will have sunny spells and are mostly dry but cold. Persistent falls of snow affect western Norway, with strong winds.

Thursday


Another bright and sunny day for Spain and Portugal, with fine conditions extending to southern France, the Balearics and Italy. Greece and Turkey see mostly dry and bright weather, with just the odd shower. More cloud for northern France, with blustery winds. Germany is largely dry but with strong winds by the afternoon in the north bringing rain later. Gales developing for the Low Countries and Denmark, by afternoon, and heavy falls of rain. Stormy seas affect North Sea coasts too. Partly cloudy but dry through Switzerland, Austria and Hungary. Some heavy snow throughout Norway, and rain in southern Sweden, possibly turning to snow. Some showers in Finland but brighter weather here.

Very windy across northern Europe today with gale to severe gales across Britain moving in through Scandinavia. Outbreaks of heavy snow are expected across Norway with rain across Britain stretching in across the Low Countries through Sweden. For much of France and Germany it should generally be dry. Dry across western parts of Poland with some snow in the east. An area of heavy snow will stretch across Russia, down towards the Baltic States, Finland, into Belarus and Ukraine. Lots of dry weather to come across Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, the Adriatic Region, Greece and Turkey. Fine as well across much of the Mediterranean with sunny spells across Italy, into Sardinia and to the west through the Balearics across all of Portugal and Spain. For much of mainland Europe it will be quite a cold day with some zero temperatures in the far east and across much of Scandinavia.

Tuesday

High pressure remains dominant on Tuesday across much of Europe with plenty of dry and fine weather. Portugal may see variable cloud but is dry, whilst more sunshine is on offer for Spain. The Balearics and Italy are also dry with sunshine with pleasant temperatures. A scattering of light showers may affect Greece, whilst more cloud and outbreaks of rain and snow affect Turkey. France is dry with sunshine, although some morning fog may be stubborn to clear. Dry conditions in Switzerland and Austria too, although chilly with some fog. Germany is expected to see more low cloud, but is dry. Feeling really cold in eastern Europe, some wintry flurries in Ukraine, but mostly dry in Poland and the Czech Republic. Some patchy rain and drizzle for Sweden , with snow in Finland. Norway will see some brighter spells, but with rain and mountain snow in the north-west.

 

Wednesday

 

Cloudy skies in Portugal may produce some rain and drizzle in the west with a strong southerly breeze. Dry weather extends through the Mediterranean, with sunny spells in Spain, Italy and much of Greece. Wintry showers affect northern Turkey accompanied by cold and strong north-easterly winds. Chilly in Cyprus too. Dry with light winds for France, Germany and the Alpine states, but with some stubborn fog patches possible. More cloud in eastern Europe, and feeling cold again. An area of snow and freezing rain expected across northern and western parts of Russia with risk of rain and freezing rain across Belarus, and heavier rain across the Baltic States. Some snow will affect northern part of the Ukraine with the south. Fair and dry in the southern Ukraine. Very windy and cold across Turkey with gales and outbreaks of heavy snow. Very windy across the eastern Mediterranean with heavy showers managing and longer spells of rain. Fine across Italy today with sunny spells. Strong gale force easterly winds will also be blowing through the Straits of Gibraltar. For much of central Europe, it will be dry day with high pressure dominating with a good deal of dry weather from Spain up through France into theLow Countries and across into Germany and Poland. High pressure will also keep the Balkans, the Baltic States and the Adriatic region dry. Heavy snow is forecast for northern Russia the band of light snow southern Russia through eastern parts of the Ukraine into eastern Romania and Bulgaria. Western parts of Turkey will be dry but heavy snow is forecast again across eastern Turkey. It remains cold, windy and wintry across much of central and eastern Europe today with further outbreaks of snow expected across Germany, Denmark, Austria, parts of Poland and it becomes heavier across the Baltic States into Belarus, the Ukraine and Russia. Heavy outbreaks of snow are expected across Norway and the northern half of Sweden with rain across southern Sweden, Denmark into far western parts of Germany and across Holland, Belgium and eastern France. The rest of France should be fair and dry. Dry as well across Spain and Portugal and this dry weather extends eastward across the Balearics into Sardinia and Italy. High pressure will keep the Balkans and the Adriatic Region dry with sunny spells. Cold but dry and sunny as well across Turkey today. Cloudy across the Baltic States with some snow flurries with most of Germany, Poland, Belarus, the Ukraine and western Russia dry. A number of heavy showers are expected around Cyprus in the far eastern part of the Mediterranean. A strong easterly wind will prevail through the Straits of Gibraltar.

High pressure builds through southern Europe on Saturday bringing a lot of dry and fine weather. Spain and Portugal are dry with sunshine, just a few light showers in the Balearics. Southern France is also dry and fine, and bright weather is also found in Switzerland and Austria with crisp sunshine. The Czech Republic and Hungary are also dry and fine but cool. Italy, the Balkans, Greece and Turkey are dry with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid teens. Wind and rain affects northern France and the Low Countries into northern Germany during the day. Gusty winds and outbreaks of rain also affect Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Poland is partly cloudy, whilst snow will affect Belarus and Russia.
