Had thunder in north Bristol this afternoon around 3.30-4pm, 4-5 good rumbles to the east on the edge of a cell. Mum said there was thunder at home in Yatton too. Then 19.00 onwards has just seen consistent rain, sometimes remarkably heavy. Ridiculously cold out there now too.

there could have been the odd convective gust, one that blew your gate off? or just vandals?

Some decent storm potential around for many of us today. However, it looks as if any activity will be during the late afternoon for my region :D

Thunderstorm in Aberystwyth just after 0800 my friend texted. Passing NE of here some big clouds.

Surprised as BBC forecast said lighter showers today!

Actually its formed a line which is back building to my west so still a chance here.

There is more chance of Andy Murray winning wimbledon than my area seeing any rain today, let alone a storm.

Netweather storm forecast for today: http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=convective;sess=

Doesn't look like much if any storm potential tomorrow, as an area of low pressure with mostly dynamic rainfall moves NE across the UK. Then a ridge of high pressure, albeit transitory, looks to limit convective potential Mon and Tues. Looks like convective potential returns later next week as another low swings in from the west with some instability indicated in the returning Pm sector

Already some convection occurring in North Wales/Merseyside, heading into Cheshire. Always an encouraging sign. :)

I think I have a moderate risk for today. Moving on though, as it stands, late next week is looking interesting, as Nick pointed out. At least in spells of weather like this when we don't get summer warmth, there's always convective opportunities for us to keep our eyes on. :)
