Now getting rather windy cirrus breaking up again. So hot breezy and since we're outside the met office advisory zone and the netweather watch area I don't think the shield will be needed today.

According to this we are not netweather storm risk

Stuck under high/mid level crud from the MCS remants...very boring looking skies with high humidity making it feel unpleasant...am actually looking forward to lower temps and humidity tomorrow

I am interested in that little batch of showers over the New Forest area. They seem to be in line with the cells in Northern France so maybe a trough ahead of the cold front?

The direction of travel could put them bang into the area of high dewpoints and temps..

Yes they've suddenly sprung out of nowhere haven't they. Big splodges of rain falling here in fits and starts.

I haven't the time to look back through the x number of pages of posts today, but it looked from the radar/satellite that

something of an MCS moved towards the Devon/Dorset coastline through the morning before breaking up into showery rain

as it moved onshore.

I dare say that had it arrived 6-8 hours later it would have held together due to the land being more heated by then, however

what this region has been left with is sporadic sharp showers, hazy sunny spells and very interesting cloud formations.

The latest radar does show heavier cells breaking out in inland Hampshire.

Not encouraged by the MCS mess moving into N France atm - some sferics on the leading edge though. If it doesn't invigorate it could just prove to thwart potential developments later :cray:

The french have alot to answer for!!

BUT it may fire up if it can erode the cap and unleash the 3000+ CAPE.

I really know little about MCS structure and their development, but I've seen it written enough times, including by JH earlier, that they tend to be a hindrance more than a blessing. Time will tell!

I don't get it... Theres currently 2600 CAPE over my post code with -8 lifted index and all there is to show for all that thunderstorm potential is a very small light shower within 50 miles
