As I feared, the rain and thunder was too far west and now it's clearing. No doubt the next batch moving up will be too far east. Can't get this one right!

People in thanet!, keep an eye to your south east... I'm waiting to see if it will explode into life as it looks very interesting at this time

That line moving out of south Wales towards Brum may produce lightning.

Yay thunder again - a second thunderstorm would round off a perfect day nicely. :)

We have altocumulus to the south, and there's a shower on the way. Light, admittedly, but it's something.

I assume you're also from Thanet then Victor? In the past half hour skies to the south east have definitely darkened, with more convection shooting up also. Fingers crossed.

Sunderland should be getting a thunderstorm now judging by the radar?

Yeah, would be especially good for Cleadon as the NE wind has eased right off, and as a result there's not much low cloud about here- so if we get anything exciting I should actually be able to see it this time! Again it seems to be developing over this area and then intensifying out in the North Sea.

Noticed one flash out of the corner of my eye earlier, and heard 3 rumbles of thunder.
