Cannot complain with that, maybe another but I think that is it for now but one severe storm with very close lightning which one fork nearby and another moderate one following that, best loudness of cracks since 2006 and best overall storm by far since July 2009 some heavy rain with it as well, happy timesyahoo.gif and unlucky those who missed out, your time will come soon.good.gif

I have to say, having to go out and therefore walk in the storm was pretty scary! Some fo the lightning was a bit too close for my liking!

We still have the odd rumble here. Boy, it was worth the dissapointment of last night for today!

Anyone else in Tunbridge Wells / Tonbridge will be getting an utter treat at the moment, and wherever the path of this bit of the storm is going too, enjoy! Hope the internet holds out, my UPS should keep the PC running though!

In a clearer slot here for the time being, though I'm keeping my eye on the cells around N and W London, more rain at least looks probable for here, and possibly even more thunder and lightning though not as frequent as earlier one would think.

Winds are from different directions at different heights/altitude.

Low level clouds near the surface are moving one direction, but the storms are being steered by higher level winds which are from another direction. This is called wind sheer, and can at times cause tornadoes etc.

Had a storm that seemed to follow me on the train home from London this afternoon - torrential rain and thunder around 30 mins ago in Bexleyheath. Looks like another storm heading this way - crack of lightning a loud thunder after a lull of 5-10 minutes :drinks:

Lovely jubbly!

Beginning to look more like embedded Multicells as the CF upper layers become more unified and starting to limit the amount of convection now going on in the southeast. Multicells feeding off one another's residual energy will be the order of the day, still however the risk of one or two imports from the Channel.

Eyes to the South for the clearer gap coming up for anyone wanting the same 'action' say in the triangulation area of Cantebury-Folkestone-Margate before finally the CF clears.
