The clearing has revealed the back end of the Southend storm, mighty impressive, for a good 5 minutes there was continuous rumbling eminating from the Estuary area.

I have just got in and that was an interesting couple of hours. I was going to chase once it had moved over the top of me but popped back home instead of trying to get through Worthing on the A27 during school kicking out time. My strike alert is still going mad. I might have to pop out again.

About 20 minutes ago had a crack of lightning and thunder right over us… naffed the internet and the lightning actually tickled my nose — dog's not too happy about it… panting and won't even eat his dinner.

Heavy rain for the past half hour with a few rumbles of thunder for good measure. Its 15C here and now feeling cooler and fresher than earlier. Radar shows more rain and maybe storms to come though.

It wasn't "So wrong" - generally it was thought that there would be imports from France in the SE, and home grown storms in Eastern England, say around Lincolnshire to North Yorkshire. The home grown storms materialised further north, giving Tyneside a fantastic thunderstorm and an absolute deluge of rain and hail. Admittedly the French imports didn't show up, but I doubt that's what you're on about as they wouldn't affect anywhere NW of a line from the IoW to Norwich.

That storm rapidly intensified in the last 10-15 minutes, counted about 10 Cg Strikes and 2 were Gunshot Thunder which I filmed in full HD. Just have to learn how to import it onto the Pluter and Will put it up.

I would class that as quite a decent little storm for the Uk! :air_kiss:

Well done to all you in the east! So happy for you :D does it look like this will continue into the evening and beyond?

i must say from the weather forecasts i looked at this morning, today has come as a nice surprise, if i got as much surprise snowfall in winter as the rain and thunder we have had today i would be a happy bunny. lol.

Things pepping up again, massive shotgun type crack of thunder just now, heavy rain, dogs barking, think that must have woken a few people up :) quite breezy too.
