Blimmin awful day, rain for over 24hrs - none of your biblical floods though, just grey and miserable, more like February than April. This summer can't even deliver exciting rain in East Anglia, never mind TS. August used to be THE month for storms here..oh well, roll on 2012, surely it couldn't be any more dismal.lazy.gif

Serious torrential downpour here now!! All our sky channels just went off!!

No T&L though!

It's weird, that same shower is now apparently right over me according to rain today, but nothing's happening here :-/

Lightning has died off I think now or has here anyway. An epic storm. Pure serious rain to start with then a wonderful Hour long Lightning display with the later strikes viewed as far away as some 30 Miles away near the Warwickshire/Oxfordshire border! biggrin.png

Very happy now! biggrin.png

Happy but tinged with ironey........

reckon it was a good night to add to my galleryunknw.gif

Hoping to get my canon fixed & ready for our comming September storms

Apart from one distant flash and rumble which I assume that was from the cell over west Birmingham some 90 minutes ago, then moved to within 5 miles from my immediate vicinity. Nothing really to report about. Seems like Solihull's storm shield has been fixed.

But that said, well done to those further south west, primarily Hereford, Gloucestershire and Cheltenham who have been devoid of heavy rain and storms since the days of Noah. If Jane Louise didn't catch a storm, or at least see something in the distance then I'll be very surprised.

Phil.

Just seen some lightning here too in Southport. A surprise thunderstorm is fast approaching according to radar! Must have been 3 or 4 months since the last one...

How about 12mm of rain in just less than 5 minutes, pretty impressive...(for Southport anyway)

Lots of reports about people seeing lightning from x amount of miles away but I've been fruitlessly staring into the west/northwestern horizon for a good while and seen diddly squat....and I'm only about 20 miles from Chester

All seems quiet again. . On the positive side, I have seen night-time lightning for the first time in 3 years. If you're listening Mother Nature...thanks for the starter, now how about that long overdue main course?
