Just took some long-exposure shots from the window, some stratiform clouds streaking across the sky above the Pennines right now, with the squall just as a wall incoming.

Raining with gusty winds here - how long is this likely to last?

Squall line just past through here.....pretty impressive while it lasted.

Only lasted about 5 minutes at most here in north Cheshire, very heavy burst of rain but the wind was quite calm, windier before and since. Not overly exciting really, but taught me that the gutters need clearing.

What a day, impressed with recording a gust to 76mph with many more over 70mph!! I do feel the warnings should have highlighted the storm force winds which massively over shadowed the rainfall.

Heres some videos if anyone is interested, I've added a second video :)

Managed 17mm of rain today and a 55mph gust, which doesn't sound much, but all that rain fell in a three hour period, and 55mph is the 2nd highest gust this year. Now down to 7.3º.

Very squally here in the South Staffs....winds increasing by the minute..The intense precip on the squall line is about 25 miles to my North West, approaching Stoke..Should be interesting!

Not much happening up here in Oldham, just a bit of a blustery shower. The rain would be pretty light if it wasnt for the wind blowing it. Thank god it hasnt amounted to much is all I can say.

Just moving into the Sheffield shield shredding of the front should be starting now.

Very windy out there this evening. Can see a nice batch of heavy rain coming towards me on radar. Probably will catch more of the tail end though. Feeling a bit more like autumn now as it should be!!

By the time it gets here it will be drizzle, as it's dying out very quickly now.No doubt it will intensify as it's passed through this area though.

Well it was a stunning sunset after the front passed away, currently 7.7c in a strong westerly wind but nothing nearly as strong as it was earlier.

More like it raining now but the wind has gone !!!!

Total 1.4mm of rain so not a squall line any more wind fell from an average 0f 27 mph to 18 mph. Pretty rubbish over all.

So far, the rain has managed to avoid us, yet again, but the squall line should be nearly here, so maybe a few drops from that! Fingers crossed.

there does seem to be rather a hole appearing in the band of rain doesn't there?

What hope have we of ever ending this drought if even the most actice of weather fronts cannot penetrate the 'dead zone's' rain sheild?

*groans*
