This morning i recorded 0c and 93% humidity with shallow fog, I thought if it was cold enough and the air had alot of moister it could snow?

Just a question of curiosity, what would the chances be that the south went an entire winter without snow? I have only had one winter I can remember with no snow and that was 2006/07 and never want a repeat of that!

I think I can say with reasonable confidence now that i will have a completely snowless 2011!

Let's hope 2012 makes up for it!

Apart from a coulple of very wet snow showers in jan We do look like having a terrible year snow wise with no snow cover whatsoever in 2011! :aggressive:

Good to see you back!! Are you keeping your avatar pic for this coming season?

Maybe a change to Ian Fergusson, our new number one now!

Here's hoping for another Jan 2010

We had snow in January and March so can't say we have had none. However I am not too hopefull of Snow for December in lowland Scotland. That would be terrible as November has seen 2 frosts and no snow! :cray:

Yes I am around but to be honest the current weather has bored me so much of late.

I shall keep the avatar for now but you are right Ian Fergusson is number one. Don't really think I should use his picture as he has his own netweather profile he uses from time to time.

I do hope he comes back this winter! :good:

I don't recall the last snowless December in Leeds so I'm sure lowland snowfall in Scotland will occur in December no doubt about it. Heck, it could even occur tonight/tomorrow.

1971-2000 average met office snow lying days (annual) for towns/cities in the UK:

Aberdeen, E Scotland: 16 to 18

Glasgow, W Scotland: 10 to 12 (larger uhi effect)

Edinburgh, E Scotland: 12 to 14

Dundee, E Scotland: 14 to 16

Newcastle, NE England: 12 to 14

Manchester, NW England: 8 to 10

Liverpool, NW England: 6 to 8

Leeds, Yorkshire: 12 to 14

Sheffield, Yorkshire: 12 to 14

Birmingham, Midlands: 10 to 12

Nottingham, Midlands: 8 to 10

Cardiff, Wales: 4 to 6

Swansea, Wales: 4 to 6

Plymouth, SW England: 0 to 2

London, S England: 4 to 6

Reading, S England: 6 to 8

Southampton, S England: 0 to 2

Norwich, E England: 8 to 10

Cambridge, E England: 6 to 8

This means the average amount of snow lying days in a year, is your town beating the average of your area? As you can see, snow lying days are in fact rather rare, and in most cities, a snowless December would in fact be the most likely option!

P.s. if you want your location's, just ask :)

Seem to be suffering from 'Snowmonia' again.

I'd even sell my soul to the GFS to see a Southern England snowfall event before 5th December. :cray:

Does sleet count for the last time it snowed where each of us are?

Because where I live, some very fine sleet fell on the morning of 20th November a week ago tomorrow. Looks like I won't be in the club if sleet counts.

If it concerns just snow, 21st February.

The door to snow could be unlocked for some of us from Sunday onwards with chances of wintry weather affecting various places. The further North you are, the wider the door opens, but even places down South may see that gate being unlocked. This will, off course, depend what outcomes the models fling at us during the next few days, although it is looking promising. :)

I was never going to join the club anyway because of the snow so far in 2011 and guaranteed snow this month but I would like to know who hadn't had any snowfall or lying snow prior to December has got it now? Thanks.

Except one day, 7th January 2011, when it snowed and melted within a few hours, Haven't seen a single flake of snow! Will soon completely forget what snow looks like if it reaches the year mark lol Just hope it snows some time this month! Good to see so many in the North getting snow though considering the Autumn we just had!

I'm in and expect to be in for a long time yet.

Being a central southern coastal, it's gonna be a long time before we see anything in white precip.

How long can we hold out, in the current scenario I'd say at least Mid Jan maybe later?
