Latest reading is 958mb, am unsure how much further it will deepen, would think this has already bombed..?? Isobars on NAe look to be closing up as it moves NE of the country.

Lets hope any family members out in the North Sea are safe tonight. I can see it being VERY rough out there. Especially for those on the smaller vessels.

Unfortunately I've been delayed today so have to take the 18:40 train to Inverness arriving at 11:50, not really looking forward to this, will take some videos and pictures of the snows if I can.

Should specify that it's from Glasgow.

165mpg gutst is insane, thats the sort of wind gust you'd expect in a category-4 hurricane (Cat-5 have sustained winds at that level but as this was a gust, you can't really compare) and obviously a gust that strong would cause extreme damage to anything that decided to go up there today!!

Just been out to fix a neigbour's greenhouse door before all the panes blew out. Very difficult to stand and the wind ripped the gate out of my hands. Hopefully we are nearly through the worst. There's a lot of light debris and other stuff blowing about but most trees seem OK since they shed their leaves a few weeks ago.

Update: Another neighbour has just lost their outdoor Christmas lights!

yby: agree, we may have minor problems but there's quite a few folk put their lives on the line for our safety. Big thanks to all the emergency services and good wishes for anyone at sea.

Yeah, on the east side I am expecting the worst for the next 6 hours or so. Don't think will be as bad as south and west but a final sting in tail. lots of reports of damage coming through

Holy moly, it's just got much worse here in the last few minutes. Hardly any rest between gusts, lights are flickering good style, I'm surprised we still have power!

There goes my chair... :search:

That's just normal Scottish skiing weather. If it's blowing in the right direction (uphill), you don't even need a tow....

My sister is stuck on a runway at Edinburgh Airport, they can't get the steps to the plane. I'm still shocked the flew it.

That's just crazy, it's not as if this storm wasn't well forecast yesterday.
