Huge anvil north of me...say manchester way heading east...some one is having fun under that!

Anybody know of wind directions today, are we expecting a more northerly from west element soon?

I think the irish sea maybe just warming up and giving us some convection but unless the dps go lower along with the temps we are just going to get hail. I need bt or someone to confirm this though

I've just woken up and it's white outside.

It was just hailing heavily and it looks like we're under a streamer. Good stuff! :D

Morning all. Just seen a car drive through the village with snow on the bonnet, so somewhere not too far away has got lucky. Probably on higher ground though.

Edit although it could have been slushy hail......

Temp 5.2c dewpoint 1.2c here so I'm thinking at best hail.

3.4C here with a dewpoint of 1.0C under heavy showers of what look like sleet, and heavy hail too.

Just need evaporative cooling to push the temperature down to about 1C before we see any snow. Could happen in the heavy, prolonged showers.

3.2C now.

Would seem you're about 5 miles North of the streamer.

Happened to me last night. Annoying!

Irish Sea is throwing out convection due to rapidly cooling 850 temperatures.

Uppers aren't low enough yet for snow, that's why we're getting hail. Wait until they drop to about -6.5C later, and I've a feeling we might receive a bit of snow. Although I'm enjoying this hail. Absolutely love it. :D

I know, I was referring to my streamer now, and his showers last night.

Just had TORRENTIAL hail. The temperature has fallen down to 2.9C, and everywhere is white. Amazing weather! :yahoo:

We have had continuous hail for the past 40 minutes, and we have accumulated around 2cm of hail on the ground..should turn to rain pretty soon.

As for snow...its marginal at best...-6.5C uppers...sleet at best...true fact that....to guarantee low lying snow we need far colder upper in this area...the temp your talking about is fine for high ground..you however are not on high ground not even close to 200m..infact id say right now its probably closer to 350m+

Temperature as not fallen at all BT its remained steady at 5.4C for the past 1 hour.. couple of true facts...1 your day time temperature is the same as mine, no fluctuations.

2 You need to check your temperature guage..its clearly broken. There is no way on earth you are recording -3C temperature differential.
