Think there is going to be a fair bit of 'under the floorboards'®™HC action this coming week !

If not to celebrate the festive season then to take the edge off some of the model output - which is particularly grim and requires some Xmas magic of it's own.

Even that feature of LP for mid week is downgrading on the latest run.

Latest Met Office warning....amber for wind in northern Isles tomorrow

West to southwesterly winds will increase across the north of Scotland on Christmas Day, with gusts of 80 to 90 mph likely across the Northern Isles, where there is a lower risk of as much as 100 mph in the north of Shetland. Over parts of northern mainland Scotland and the north of the Western Isles winds are expected to gust to 70 to 80 mph. The public should be prepared for the risk of disruption to transport and power, and of possible structural damage.

Going to be a windy Christmas by the looks of things. Meto warning of Hurricane Force 12 for here, gusts of 80-90mph likely, possibly even 100mph!

Hi guys, anyone living on Orkney or Shetland please stay safe tomorrow and extreme caution will be needed. Exceptionally strong winds, Violent storm force 11 perhaps even hurricane force 12 speeds, gusting 90-100mph.

One thing can be certain, the weather does change quite rapidly in Scotland and I hope it does bring the cold snowy weather soon.

A bit blowy up here! Wind steadily increasing all the time, gusting to 51mph at the moment but expected to hit perhaps 80-90mph this evening.Very dark (more than normal for this time of year in Shetland lol) and greatly reduced vis due to rain and wind driven spray.
