The cold front introduces less cold upper temperatures for a time, but I feel there's a warm sector trapped somewhere between the surface and 850hPa. Hopefully as the cold front moves in, it'll push this warm sector away, and give us some proper snow for a time at least.

Precipitation has been SO damn light today, despite the radar indicating heavy precipitation. Hopefully the cold front will bring with it heavier precipitation, especially as the two fronts merge overhead.

what does that mean liam is it likely to pep up a bit?

where the two fronts occlude means the warm sector (triple point) is pushed away so less mixing of the uppers....if you have snow, you have a greater chance of an all snow event..if your south of where the fronts occlude and you have rain/sleet then you're likely to stay as rain/sleet....hope this helps

yeh looking at the radar the heavier stuff just seems to evaporate as it approaches here.

Just thankful of a couple of cm now,all in all a very disappointing event for the NW more so the further west you go.

man that's unlucky. no such problems ten miles north. getting worse and worse. or better and better for snow lovers lol.
