I wouldn't worry about temperatures too much - dps are low, and we are getting snow in ne England despite temperatures of 5-8C between the showers! They fall to about 2c when a shower hits:

It's not the temperatures that are worrying me, it's the lack of PPN in the Irish Sea atm.

Just need that trough to dig in and inject the energy into the atmosphere, then it's game on.

The trough did actually come through and look at this radar http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ The PPN just forming just off the Lancashire coast. At the Morecambe bay area. Plus another one west off southport.

I wouldn't really put much hopes on this brief 'cold snap' if you could call it even that. 24 hours is the window of opportunity between now and tomorrow afternoon where the likelyhood of any snow is at it's highest, after that the warmer uppers move back in again and remain there giving us some spring-like conditions into the mid-week.

Still remember it's only mid-February, we've had snow events well into March for the past 2 years from a dominant scandi-high dragging in Easterly pools. So after tomorrow is over with winter won't be finished just yet.

Not quite, it's still North of me, hence the lack of precipitation in the Irish Sea at the mo.

From around 5pm the colder air difference between the SST's (sea surface temperatures) will create some major convection, with the wind still being in our favour. I love it at night as I can watch my lamppost :D

If there are flakes mixed in with uppers of -4C/-5C with an air temperature of 7C, then I am certain that the showers will be completely of snow, perhaps grauple too.

The conditions are ripe, and I fully expect to see a streamer later on. A few cm's for some locations.

Yep I saw that!

Interestingly though, it says it will fall as rain.

No chance at all.

I could, but it's Net Weather Extra full sub, so you wouldn't be able to view it. Here's the image though:

:D

Doesn't look right to me - There's literally no PPN in Scotland for that time, I think the NMM has got this one wrong.
