Mmm, lovely gust front passed over 5 mins ago with a few strong gusts after it was calm beforehand along with impressive structure, shame the rain has decayed to just a sharp shower again!

There is a thunderstorm northeast of Chester currently looking at the netweather lightning detector. Not looking likely for here though today and too late to chase now I feel. Tomorrow looking okay though.

Have fun down south - a nice W-E line of storms.

Got my Eye on that storm by Chester... if it maintains its direction we could be inline.. if not I might head out in the car and take alook if it skirts to Telford and is still a thunderstorm

yeah spotted it too,i think these showers(in my neck of the woods anyway) are moving a bit too quick to be chasing them, besides, they are not active enough

i am keeping my eye on this shower to my NE to see if it picks up in ppn

Some lovely CB tops out there this afternoon, once the cloud clears and sun allows clarity.

A squall line is a line of thunderstorms that can form along or ahead of a cold front.

How does it show up on a rain radar??

Also if your looking at the sky, is it easy to pick out?

You might see the sky get very dark but that's all I can think of.

If you look on the NW radar from say Bristol to North of London you should see a long line of showers/storms... that is the squall line. Wouldnt say you could see it in the sky though.

Fantastic gust front over central london at the moment. Some of the best structure I have seen for a while.

Nice but you really are lucky with all these storms! Still waiting for the first one here but it never seems the right set up here.

Everytime the set up seems right for London yet weve had winds from all directions, endless chances here but nothing. Boring as hell here!

Not at all jealous, honest! blum.gif

There's a line of large heavy showers going to pass about 10 miles to my east typically, I can't go out and chase it because tea will be ready soon and got work to do. Dry here again.

Looks like London is proving the place to be so far this year. Last year it was the NE that got all the storms.

I can chase tomorrow if the chance arises but no chance over the weekend. I really hope something can happen tomorrow.

Damn, if only the BBC had held interview with their political correspondant some 15 mins later. Noticed the same black clouds lurking behind Westminster, a shame the Tower Bridge cam has been resigned also.

YEP!!! And it's about flaming time....the last 2 years have been storm droughts!!!

Last year, I had 8 thunder days in total - over the last 9 days I have thunder and lightning on 5, with 2 fairly decent cells on one day.

What an awesome month so far - just hope this isn't the half a dozen quota for the year!
