Uk Convective General Discussion & Forecasts - April 2012 Onwards

YEP!!! And it's about flaming time....the last 2 years have been storm droughts!!!

Last year, I had 8 thunder days in total - over the last 9 days I have thunder and lightning on 5, with 2 fairly decent cells on one day.

What an awesome month so far - just hope this isn't the half a dozen quota for the year!

Looking quite dark just to my east now. Just got a subscription to the radar. Doesnt look very impressive on there unfortunately. Think there will just be a bit of rain again

OT, cell near Oxford looks small on radar but ive watched the cloud from Reading and its just turned into a beauty anvil, would be surprised if theres no lightning in it..

Saw and heard thunder & lightning from a storm in Wales as it was approaching, but as it crossed the Bristol channel it died a death.

There is a developing shower that has moved out of York and heading towards Leeds. It could develop into something. Whereabouts in Leeds are you?

Coast might be happy later, some very good cells heading down towards Sussex and Kent from what I can see.

There's a line of large heavy showers going to pass about 10 miles to my east typically, I can't go out and chase it because tea will be ready soon and got work to do. Dry here again.

Nice but you really are lucky with all these storms! Still waiting for the first one here but it never seems the right set up here.

Everytime the set up seems right for London yet weve had winds from all directions, endless chances here but nothing. Boring as hell here!

can confirm.. huge long booming thunder coming from london.. about every 30 secs now.. and im in firing line

Fantastic gust front over central london at the moment. Some of the best structure I have seen for a while.

That was pretty immense as it approached, few flashes of lightning. And 10-15 second rumbles of Thunder. London does seem to be the place to be these days.... looks like a bit more maybe on it's way.

Hmmmm, not this part of London for sure. despite some very hopeful signs in the last 2 weeks it took until this afternoon to record my first rumble of thunder of the year here. That was it, a distant rumble of thunder. Have to say it looked very promising for much of the afternoon though.

Nothin here went pretty dark then the sun tried coming out then went dark again but the sun is slowly making an appearance again now so i think that could be that!

A few active cells fired off here around 18.30 with very heavy rain and hail, horrible driving conditions. No thunder.

Things looking potentially much more active throughout tomorrow for more northern areas.

After a wet start this morning continuing to early afternoon the weather soon cleared up this afternoon/early evening and is quite settled and pleasant out there, dare I say we managed to get a little sunshine today!

Do you guys want me to do a quick forecast? on the upcoming thunderstorm potential.
