Looks too far North for me.......

Looks too far north, south east and west for me.. the weather has been pleasant recently, but just one storm won't hurt.. will it?

TORRO CONVECTIVE DISCUSSION 2012/003

A TORRO CONVECTIVE DISCUSSION has been issued at 1115GMT on Friday April 20th 2012

Valid from/until: 1115GMT-1900GMT on Friday April 20th 2012

for the following regions

Parts of (see map)

S Wales

S England

Midlands and E Anglia

THREATS

Hail to 1.5cms diameter; gusty winds to 50mph; CG lightning.

Large upper cold pool with minor short wave troughs rotating around it covers the UK. Once such shortwave is rotating across S England. Diurnal heating combined with larger scale ascent/cooling upper air from shortwave is allowing showers and thunderstorms to develop. With fairly low freezing levels and steep low-level lapse rates, heavy hail of up to 1.5cms diameter is possible along with gusty winds. Low-level shear is generally rather weak so whilst a brief funnel/tornado cannot be ruled out due to steep low-level lapse rates, storms are more likely to be outflow dominant.

Forecaster: RPK.

Showers bubbled up over the past hour or so around Kent. Few sharp ones passed through Canterbury but nothing electrical heard or seen yet.

Lovely looking skies here but alas it all slipped NW of my location. Plenty of time.

i would have let you have it- 3 rumbles of thunder and now just heavy rain. i only needed another 20 minutes to tighten the bolts on my bumper!!! wallbash.gif

It's not looking good here so far with no convection whatsoever, and after yesterdays non-event im not confident at all for later.

A few short sharp showers so far with the main thrust of activity moving eastwards from my location ATM.

Wow the radar has exploded since I last looked, widespread activity kicked off..... Fun and games for quite a few today. :)

Mostly quiet here which I wasn't expecting. Still got time for it all to go boom though (although admittedly so far radar is not too exciting)

Bloomin' eddies in the main flow have scuppered the blob heading this way. Fun landing at Gatwick at the mo I bet!

Bristol channel playing a big part in shower distribution again. Not a single storm coming up the channel, but plenty either side.

Had a little rain from a few light showers earlier, but I fear that's it for today as long as the wind is blowing west-east
