Some lovely towering clouds coming in from our West this morning, with plenty of sunshine to aid convection......I have a feeling it could be our afternoon....laugh.png

Going back to Wednesday with the low pressure centred over the area There was a nice convergence of air streams over Birmingham, which according to the maps was sitting at the top edge of the pool of low pressure.

I will be heading out in 10-15 mins. I think the Worcester cells are too far for me but I am thinking heading east along the M62 and then i have the option of dropping down the M1 or A1 to catch the storms this afternoon

Oh my, I think it's all moving to my North but not to sure yet. Mind, Cheltenham is usually a breeding ground for storms rolleyes.gifit all builds up here then shoots off to somewhere that's already had about 10 or so storms.Typical lol

Everything is way south of here again. Can anybody who knows advise if areas such as the N Midlands & N England are going to join in? I can't go all the way down to London to chase :(

Have the 6z wind convergence charts come out yet?

For those who may be new and not seen them before - we have a couple of free tools to make sure you're keeping up with the latest:

Rainfall Radar

Lightning Detector (ATD)

The pop up ad thing is very annoying though. Good tools though. Convections just starting to kick off here now :)

MASSIVE upgrade on the latest 06 NMM. Shows CAPE of around 400-500 even at around 9-10pm for east yorkshire tonight. And around 2-4pm is when CAPE is at it's highest a good 600-900 cape with a LI of -2 to -3! bring it on =D

Today for me with severity of storms, East Midlands, EA, Lincolnshire, East Yorkshire/Humber with another area of showers/risk for NE England around 3-4/5pm today.

Heavy rainstorm over Uxbridge right now, although can't really spot it on NW radar. Couple of rolls of thunder mixed in too. Have opened my office window so the breeze can blow a bit of water onto my starved office plants!

Storm just North of Ramsgate is very Impressive from SE Essex. Watched it grow from TCU To Full Blown Storm over the last 35 minutes.

More Towers building downwind of this as well. Some Impressive Skies for the Uk and Shows the Energy Up There Today.

Just watching that on radar, showing a few sferics - are you getting any thunder WS1?

I'm pretty glad that I decided to have a bit of a lie-in this morning than be up on the plateau moorlands first thing. Already 2x showers have passed by with another ominous looking dark cloud to the west. Consistent rain since 10.30am with both cells crossing.

It's certainly looking dark to my SW, looks like the edge of an anvil has just passed over me, keeping the door open to see if I can hear any thunder!

Thanks for that. I will stick with my original plan then of heading towards the A1 then can either go East to E Yorks/Humber on the M62 or south the the East Midlands and Lincs on the A1.

Hopefully I'll have some vids to send across to you by tomorrow.
