Not tonight Angela! We are now losing the daytime heating and the energy will cease. All to play for in the next few days though! The NMM model has some very intense rainfall rates during Thursday morning heading SE - NW across country from the Wash area - Could be some interest from this, keep an eye on the radar! smile.png

Watching a small cell that has developed above the A1 to the west of Doncaster in the last hour or so. Appears to be dropping a lot of rain, and has a shelf like cloud underneath (although, I am about 15 miles away)..

Looks like a nice storm for Manchester

I could see the whole cumulonimbus structure from that to my east, was hoping it would come my way, however I did hear a few deep rumbles from a storm west of my location at about 4.30 pm which had an impressive cauliflower head

Have a look on the current radar at the showers and storms leaving France ( very beefy indeed)...... Now that is the batch of energy the NMM wants to bring right across from the SE overnight, this then intensifies as it heads over N England through the morning.

Cheers for explaining that Liam, I had no idea it was that which was going to move over Northern England..We shall see in the morning what happens although people in many places are in for an "interesting" time good.gif

your right, were too far west, just like today when central/eastern cumbria got torrential rainfall and a few strikes (looking at the radar) whilst the coastal areas just got rain and it was the same last week. For thunderstorms (and snow) the further east you are the better.

Only just managed to get on laptop after a great day of convection.

Left Otley at 16.30 to a tremendous shower. Visiblity so bad struggled to see if any lightning came out of it..?

Decent crack of thunder about 17.30 in Pudsey but nothing much after. The cell seemed to be more towards the city heading east Leeds..

I do believe I am directly in the firing line of the possible storm that is heading towards Rugby now, one lightning strike on the radar so far.........maybe this is the last day of my NSC membership.

No, not even heavy rain, it slid to the east of me.....still in the nsc

sorry.gif
