looks wet from the 11th onwards

fi from the 12th as too much temperature variation

I agree about it being FI from quite early. I'm struggling with interpreting anything at the moment, as the models seem to change with each run, even in the relatively short term. Maybe the tropical storms are throwing them?

A bright and sunny start with heavy dew on the car and a nice chill to the air.

But a short week to ease you back in MK? Though no substitute to being in Devon I realise.

Yes Steve cracking day here, although I had to look up poets day... like it biggrin.png

I think Keraunophile needs to wash her mouth out really!laugh.png

Sadly, I'm watching the latest GFS run update...It's currently up to 9:00 on Tuesday.blush.png

I've been looking at GFS over the last day, regarding next weekend. Here are 4 charts for next Friday at noon.

Basically 3 of these 4 look decent to me, although it's obviously early days. I'm also posting the latest Sunday 16th chart too.

Not that much shorter really, I don't work Mondays anyway and I've done two late nights and will be working longer on Saturday to make up for it ohmy.png

I'd much rather be at the seaside, it's lovely here today though I've just been up to the stables to collect some tickets and the sun is really warm good.gif

As well as the Rayleigh scattering already mentioned, the possible decreasing humidity at this time of year may also be contributory along with surface level pressure (currently high) and temperature changes:

Calculations of the volume Rayleigh-scattering coefficient were made for all the radiosoundings to study its seasonal variations with height due to pressure and temperature changes occurring in the troposphere and stratosphere. It was found that the surface-level pressure and temperature conditions can account to a large extent for these seasonal effects.

I'd say today was the finest weather day of the year here.cool.png

I was thinking that the wet summer has caused a lack of distress in foliage so far. Horse chestnut trees, which always lose their leaves earlysad.png and the inevitable Dutch Elm Diseasemad.gif excepted.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
