Lovely day down here in Falmouth today. Pretty much non stop sunshine especially from lunch onwards. Really pleasant in the sun though a chilly breeze on the immediate coast. :)

A very cool start but a beautifully sunny one too with a very light Westerly drift.

I expect a little more cloud to roll in as the day progresses, in association with the front to the NW.

Well after the dire winter we had in our neck of the woods last year for cold and snowy weather, reading gp's post perhaps gives me hope that the upcoming winter may be more interesting for fans of cold and snowy conditions.

perhaps this winter I won't have to take a drive up on the mendips to have any chance of seeing the white stuff.

Quite surprised at the showers moving in off the Bristol Channel this evening, however now that they're happening I think that

they'll continue through the night and until at least mid morning tomorrow.

    Indeed so.

    Meanwhile....

Sunday (and possibly Sat night) looks..... interesting. Or extremely bothersome, if you're sitting in the forecasters' chairs at Exeter. More on all that tomorrow.

Yes, the ECM Op run is very errrr...... wild. Likely to be a tad over the top, but with GFS & UKMO also showing an interesting feature coming up from Biscay, could be interesting last minute developments.

Steep thermal gradient just to the south of the UK could introduce a lot of rain somewhere across Southern England.

There was a light shower around 8:30pm but nothing yet since still overcast unlike last night when the skies were clear and temps were dropping like a stone.

Just like the 23rd September 2010 as it happens, where Newbury was to receive 22.6mm. The subsequent three days which followed had a northerly influence and maxed out in the mid 50s at best.

A rather cloudy but dry start in the west Country this morning with a few chinks of blue showing through. Close to 11C currently.

Looks like a rather stormy period of weather is possible across southern and western facing coasts at the start if next week.

Nothing exceptional as of yet, but something to keep an eye on for now. Currently forecast to get very gusty.

I'm wondering what sort of swell the incoming system might produce along the South coast during Saturday, has anyone got

    any ideas/thoughts?

My wife and I are going to Sidmouth for the day and it is amazing down there when waves are crashing in! We could get the best of both worlds with it looking set to be a bright, warm day.

An overcast start to the day although it is dry at the moment. Quite cool feeling though not as cold as yesterday morning.

Still a thick veil of cloud over the sky masking the sun. Had a few spots of rain an hour or so back but dry again now.

Rather dry and increasingly sunny until a few mins ago when there was a short shower.

Feels pleasent enough in the sunny spells too.
