No reason not to disprove those figures Coast- it's absolutely tanking it down out there (as a Plymouthian would say).

was expecting it to have started here, but nothing much yet, just a damp ground. Looks as though the latest gfs has moved it slightly east and downgraded the wind strength, because the isobars don't look as tight.

yep it hasnt quite reached you yet. But give or take a few hours and you will have more than a bit of damp ground, :)

NetWeather extra radar, this is going to be handy in the next 48 hours:

Latest SatRep analysis:

Nadine herself has now moved into the scope of the Satellites and you can see her firing out the steady stream of tropical equivalent of weather soup and Cbs.

As per the fax charts the La Nadine Low visiting the UK pretty disorganised at present as it heads off the resident ridge exiting stage East.

Reinforcing energy on it's way, as per this surface plot from 0700.

We're gonna need a bigger boat !

Frontal band now up to M4 corridor roughly.

This contains light - moderate rainfall.

Behind this band is where some very heavy pulses of rainfall could develop. Still some variation on where exactly could see the heaviest rainfall, but there will be large totals in places in the south of the UK later today and overnight tonight.

Feels cool under the rain too.

It will be there to water your plants shortly. I meant M4 roughly, not quite in some places I know.

Once it gets here, it's here to stay for a while

Good morning - Child of Nadine is making slow progress north this morning as shown on the latest radar image:

post-2-0-40151100-1348388813_thumb.png

The next 36 hours look very wet indeed for much of England, Wales and Southern Scotland:

post-2-0-63731300-1348388816_thumb.png

Wind wise it's blustery rather than anything too extreme at the moment and through much of today with 40-50mph gusts typically, this increases tomorrow though.

Don't forget we now have a free radar which updates every 15 minutes that you can use to track the rainfall

Seems a drier gap in the radar currently in the Hampshire area.

Nothing in the way or rain here yet but pressure dropping by about 1mb per hour. I do have a question though; if this has tropical air why is the max forecast temperature only 12C today?

Yes it is a good question.

Nadinina contains warm moist air which is banging into an existing cold air mass. Look at the 850 temps below

post-4523-0-59145700-1348389498_thumb.pn

It is this that contributes to the cold temperatures on the north side of the system. The temperature contrast also helps create the excessive rainfall totals and accentuates the strength of the jet stream.

The really warm air never really makes it pass the midlands.

hi

the link below should help, UK only, or various other areas, simply click on at the top, there is also the link to enlarge the chart you are using.

Sometimes on the Atlantic/UK charts the computer has the centre not quite right nor the isobars if you compare with the Fax chart at the same time. It does though give a good idea of what is happening at the surface. Also on the enlarged chart you can see what the pressure is doing, the red figures on the right of the station plot today, showing pressure falling, so 35 means 3.5mb in 3 hours. If its rising it is shown in black.

hope that helps for some of you?

http://meteocentre.c...〈=en&map=UK

thos pressure falls I mentioned are only normally shown at what are called synoptic hours, 00,03,06,09,12,15,18,21 hours

Pretty wet here now, wind has picked up a bit and it's splashing the rain on my window. A cosy day ahead!

Some rain but we have picked up 5.6mm since 05:30, so not huge amounts of rainfall, we shall see.

You'll be reporting a lot more than that soon when that mass out to your south heads in!

The wind has suddenly picked up now the rain has become moderate, it really is nasty. My station doesn't pick up good wind speeds from the East unfortunaly, there's too many trees/buildings in that direction.

A lot of sferics out over the channel from an MCS type development in the tropical air to the south of the low. Not sure if it will hold together or make it far enough north to clip the UK
