My prediction for a day of lying snow is a toss up between the 23rd, 27th or the 28th November. This is based, not merely on guesswork but a process of amateur scientific reasoning. If you like, go have a look at my latest post in the winter chat thread for more details.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific with dates but I am HOPING for another early spell of action before the real fun and games of ICE DAYS AND SNOW RAMPING begins.

Well I did say the 15th November ages ago in the chat room...... but I also said if it snowed before then (in MK) I would do a forfeit, so anything on or after next Thursday is good for me !

Indeed, but we have been here many a time before.

My post in the NH snow and ice thread speaks of my hopes and fears with regard to that European High, so all will soon be resolved.

Anyway, enough of me, keep tabs on any posts from the likes of Ian F, JH (tomorrow's pdf), GP, Chiono, Matt Hugo over the coming days, is all I'll say.

Indeed, 7.9c here and rising and a few more balmy ones over the course of next week, excepting the weekend.

A Mild 8.3c here in Suburban Oxford.... Looking like a decent start to the day tomorrow then going downhill with some rain late afternoon and lasting throughout the night. At least weekend looks to see some sunshine although not as mild as previous days, will be welcomed by many though!

Saturday has a front over the south east. Although not heavy rain will probably be grey and drizzly

Westerly wind so not too cold

Sunday looks dry and could see some sunny spells

Low teen temps so quite pleasant

Thanks for posting these up John, most helpful and look forward to your brief but precise input on weather events likely to affect us. I'd imagine that front in the SE showing on Saturday is tomorrows rain-band lingering, but at least Sunday looks better and pleasant for autumn.

Lovely Pictures, can't remember the last time i saw sunrise, must of been a couple of months ago now. I wake up after 7:45am commonly. Working evenings means i get to see sunsets on way to work though so not all doom and gloom

Good morning all and at last this shift has ended. Im looking forward to 2 nights of pouring myself a beer or two, putting my feet up and doing nothing more strenuous than catching up with tv programmes Ive recorded. Another walk to work today. Too much stratus / stratocumulus about for a nice sunrise here. Looks like it may improve for a bit though.

From the forecasts I saw yesterday, it looks like tomorrow might be pretty grotty where I live, much as TWS on the model forum warned of a couple of days ago. Has there been any improvement on tomorrow's prospects since? I haven't seen any forecasts today.

Have a good POETS day all. I'm minded to disappear home at lunchtime and do a couple of hours spreadsheet work - my car needs collecting from a garage, near where I live.
