The A10 between Ware and the M25 is completely gridlocked due to an enormous accident, both sides are shut which is unusual, took me 40 mins to get through a small town! If anyone who uses that road knows, it's a major route and thousands of cars are now stationary.

I can't really answer this properly, but I think Rossby waves are on a much larger scale (I'm still learning about these). These look like mid / high level wave clouds, caused by air being forced over an obstruction, e.g. a mountain range.

Think you could be right about Rossby waves Steve. But I took this photo from my local park so that rules out the mountain theory !!

I frequently use that road PS to visit relatives in Enfield. Hopefully it will be running okay on Sunday.

Sorry you got caught up the traffic though.

Talking of traffic it has taken us 10 hours to go from west London to budle bay, just north of Alnwick Northumberland. The m1 had major accident. Was worst journey have ever come across. And then the a1m was blocked due to oil spill!!!

It feels much colder here. A frost due tonight here. We passed some heavy rain on our way up. Have a good weekend all,

From the lovely north...
