i just had to kill a big spider running accross my floor is that a good sign or bad one for a cold winter as i was thinkin its a bit late for spiders

Those big house spiders always appear at this time of year. It is however bad luck to kill them....

thats the first one i have seen for about 4 weeks prob the mild spell brought it out.

cant be that much bad luck i killed loads last year and quite a few this year and not had any bad luck yet (tapping the coffee table)

Put conkers in the corner of rooms to keep away big spiders. It does seem to work but don't know how. Still get little spiders.

A sure sign cold weather is on the way is that ptarmigan only poo on the highest most exposed rocks to mark their territory so it stays above the snow for as long as possible.

I work with a Scottish woman and she reckons a cold winter is on its way depending how much Snow is on the tops of hills during October.

She said this year there was a fair bit more than usual apparently ;)

Yes I know, but it was just one of the sayings they use that I was pointing out.

I doubt it correlates at all but this thread was all about wives tales etc, whether they hold true or not.
