Anyone know what time the wet weather is set to clear the south of our region?

Midnight, give or take a bit, still could be the odd shower after that though.

Yes sleeting here now, but very heavy. You can hear it pounding the windows!

Temp has fell 1.5C because of the rate that precip is coming down. Looks like complete rain, but not going to stand at the door and check the lamppost. Couldn't care less laugh.png

DP's rose as the front hit, but wow. The windchill is -5C.

More concentrated snowfall across central parts of Scotland behind the front. This is especially important for us in the NW as it shows the 850hpa -4'c air is starting to undercut the showers up in the North, watch by the early morning hours as this same region of weather moves across the Pennines along with the wind direction being a more NWly.

No snow for me, must be in a warm sector (also not as high as some oldhamers on here) - there are bits of sleet mixed in but still mostly rain.

Chris, from experience for us in this part of the NW dry and cold. We are blocked out by the hills to the E and NE and will be out of the worst of the winds. As you get the rain shadow effect on the East side of the pennines, we are in somewhat of a "snow shadow" here. Even with a strong E'rly flow we manage to miss out on the snow (1996) - until that day when the encroaching atlantic front stalled over us - without that there was snow all around us Kendal/Bolton/Manchester (WH posted some youtube clips yesterday) we were almost snow free until that atlantic front arrived.

You never know though a "modern" E'rly may be different to the ones we saw in the 80's smile.png - somehow i doubt it.

Cheers for the reply

Actually I loved 2010 in Lancashire....ice sheets in the ribble - 15 great,

what do others think option A. a month of ice days, frozen rivers, -20 at night, and 3 cm of snow that lasts a month

B.. -5 at night and 2 foot of snow that lasts a three days..... then Atlantic back

option A every time for me
