Seriously doubt there will be back edge snow tomorrow, especially given there will be a relative mild northwest wind blowing.. that's poor modelling.

Well the NMM says the following:

Temperature: 5-6C widely

Dewpoint: 2-3C widely

Uppers: -3/-4

So god knows what the NAE has latched on to...

Oh my god, I'd cry with joy.

NAE goes for back edge snow for all of us tomorrow morning. COME ON!

The number of times I have heard this and 99.9999% time it never happens. I can't recall once around this neck of the woods of back edge snowfall on a cold front on a warm front/ cold front combination.

I think it is still sleeting here but we need gales and a downpour if we want snow. I expect temperatures tonight of 0-3C in the cities while the countryside -1 to -3 but -6 to -8 in the snowfields of the pennine moors.

Confirmed with the NMM. NAE has lost the plot.

The temperatures will be around 4-5C along the coast as the northwesterly moves in.

I'd estimate we're about 1/4 way through the front at the moment here nr Buxton, with winds still SWly at 39mph and what looks like the convergence trailing behind the front moving across the Scottish Western Isles into the north Irish Sea along with negative 850hpa temps close behind.

Cold wet rain here, with the odd sleet mixed in. We had an initial 20 mins of light sleet/snow earlier but the temps warmed up between that and the main heavy band of rain. Hope for some backedge snow but doubt it somehow. All eyes turn to next weeks beast from the east. Hope the pennines doesn't trip it up.

Coming down like crazy here at present but it is more sleet than snow now although I think even the main roads would be white but for traffic one them.

Side roads are lethal with cars skidding all over.

TBH this talk about back edge snow after a partial thaw would be worst situation now with a layer of slush turning to packed ice and then fresh snow on top.

Look at the bottom of that webpage, says the photos were from this morning at 9:45am - I posted at 15:30!

Looked at loads of cams and the snow (where it was - eg Keswick had none) was rapidly thawing by lunchtime and mostly gone this afternoon.

An exception to this however is further inland and on higher ground - apparently the A6 over Shap fell is/was closed.

Some decent size wet snow flakes here now. The precip is heavier than earlier. Temps will drop a bit so maybe snow proper later
