At the moment, I'm not bothered re next week... FI for me is about 96hrs and it would take 100 mile correction for most to be happy...

We are always told about the gfs eastward bias...

Not far off now, just need to do a few bits around the house that need a steady hand and a straight eye, before that lovely warm squiffy feeling overtakes me (no, I don't mean incontinence either!! )

I hope the Arsenal do something positive tomorrow now! I need my Gunners to cheer me bloody up! Come on ECM, throw a spanner in the works for us and get a blinding trend going again!

Went to work today and informed everyone that they should expect some dramatic weather next week for Lowestoft, the most easterly town in the UK, with lots of snow and Siberian temperatures hitting us from the east. "Where did you get this information?" they asked. From the Netweather Model Discussion I replied. I think I'll keep my head down on Monday.

I know what you mean mate, I used to do the same thinglaugh.png ...anyway, it might switch back againgood.gif

Ps. Don't make the same mistake again.

Don't know whether I'm talking rubbish, but isn't the trend for the models to completely overestimate any potential weather conditions by a big margin; have a huge downgrade and then surprise us, close to the end? drinks.gif

To be honest, whenever I've used Netweather's forecasts in the past, they've been hopelessly inaccurate.

I will be keeping my cynical hate on as usual. I fell victim to much ramping last year. I will be more optimistic 48 hours out maybe.

Pmsl - I was being kind earlier when I put FI at T120 rofl.gif

Deary Deary Me - This could go down worse than the December Phantom Easterly from a few years back.

Part of me breathed a huge sigh of relief though as being in retail 2 weeks before Xmas this was the last thing we needed for the economy, it can snow all it wants in January!

Precisely so. Nowhere close to a done deal at this juncture. Knife-edge synoptics and some critical nuances that will cause all manner of inter-model and run-to-run 'wig-outs'.

fi is probably tomorrow at present

Well I called for an improvement before this run came out, and told some people it's going to snow next week. I always jinx things.

Maybe I should change my name to captain shortwave blum.gif

the low coming towards is the problem here

coming from our west

shows a lot stronger on gfs

think that is where the problem lies

do not be surprised to see more swings

Swings in favour or swings that downgrade even more?

if that low is overcooked it will be better to keep

our block intact

fax charts tonight may give a better clue although they have been

chopped and changed over the last few days

Hi John

I posted at the start of the week that my biggest fear regarding an e'stly was that the low would end up to far north and cut off the flow.

This at the moment is looking to be the case but I think in the long run it could be good as we build heights towards greenland where there's

less chance of a cut-off low developing.

Yeh I would agree with him on that, but it may be much watered down and not as long lasting as hoped.

I have a feeling the ECM will be different from the GFS tonight with regards to where the block sets up.
