Just got in from work, 12c outside, very misty and drizzly......but the MOD thread is very exciting......surely we'll get some decent wintry weather from this weekend onwards!!

Can this go belly up? God I hope not!

Still plenty of time for it to go belly up.

More runs needed before I get even a wee bit excited.

I've just watched one of the most informative local weather forecasts I have ever seen!!

Hats off to Ian F for explaining what could possibly happen, though you could see he was ever so slightly excited by the possibilities, it's a long time since I've heard a TV forecaster mention models TBH!

Ian seemed confident without actually saying it...

I don't like to be honest in this case but i would expect a downgrade.

Something isn't adding up!

Cold, yes. what the models are saying, hmm?

Much as I like the accuracy of David Braine, I do prefer presenters who show a bit more excitement, it is after all what keeps us lot poking around in here for hours on end, just waiting for the extremes to show.

Im always very wary of battle grounds where i am as they have always been snow in my memory, to get snow to 6m ASL in north devon is a hard task, though lots to look out for.

what the models are showing at the moment could be an absolute classic for the west country, a definite 80s look about them, I just hope our region is not on the wrong side of any rain/snow line which alot of the time we seem to be!

Or the joy that is freezing rain!!

No mention of anything exciting on David Braine's forecast just a while ago, mind you he's not exactly a ramper!

He has always been a bit boring but realistic, it is easy to ramp like Ian and then end up wrong!! However we understand Ian whereas many do not, I imagine that there is a fine line between being informative and worrying people that there might be disruptive wintry conditions that will make their every day lives difficult.........

Will someone put me out of my misery, I'm trying to remember the name of the BBC weather presenter who was a bit of a cold lover, he stopped a couple of years back?

Ah, just remembered its Rob McElwee, how I miss him when there's potential snow afoot!

Chris Fawkes seems to be the 'new' cold lover! He's the one who stuck his neck over the weekend and posted a video on the BBC Weather website, saying a cold outlook is look more likely due to the SSW. Its since been taken down today...

Indeed it is, but it doesn't stop me from wanting some more does it blum.gif

I'd actually just be content with some dry sunny & crisp weather, fed up of this cloudy damp mess bad.gif Though we did actually some some sun today good.gif

Of course and I want you to join in the fun that hopefully will develop for several of us in the coming days. I was simply stressing the word rare, which I wouldn't want you to mistake for a nailed on certainty. It may be rare but it can and does happen, although the synoptics for 2010 were stunning by any definition. smiliz39.gif

I do hope when I wake up these sort of charts are still showing.

That's when I'll start getting excited.
