This probably is one of the most unremarkable 'cold spells'. Ever.

Temp climbing towards 4 now.

Its that westerly component. Never want it, ever, ever!

Agreed, something always seems to pop up to ruin everyones fun!

One for the bin tbh

They haven't factored in the Cheshire Gap or the wrap around

Erm.........seeing as they are the experts, I think they probably have.

The met office have updated, they only expect kent to get a few showers tonight so dont get excited

it says wintry showers, especially across Kent. Sounds better than rain tbf

NAE have called it best in this spell, way better than METO

NAE updates say Cheshire Gap will reach the SE and the wrap around will reach west London

NAE > METO

Today shows why frontal snowfall although possibly the most rewarding, is almost always the wrong side of marginal for us.

Give me a decent flow off the N.Sea in sub -8c 850 air and a sunshine and snow showers setup anyday, over this bloody heart-attack miserable stuff.

Totally stopped in W10 too. 0cm lying despite nearly five hours of snowfall cray.gif

Up the road in Willesden it has apparently settled in places, so just a matter of a mile or two out for us, but nice to see some flakes falling and had a dusting from the early ppn, so let's look forward to later!

The front will be clearing soon and it'll be turning drier, lets just hope we see something a bit more substantial tonight, because so far a Northerly Toppler probably would have produced more!

Well I have had 3cm at best of snow here in MK which isn't much considering it has snowed most of the day here, right now the sky is blue and the sun is shining which looks so pretty on the snow, but is sadly melting it a bit in places, Temperature 1.4 °C Dew Point 0.7 °C so at this time of day not much of a thaw I hope, it will be freezing again soon !

Boarded a train at half past two to London from Crewe. In Crewe the snow had all melted, (been snowinh heavily all night), in stoke just patches remained.

By far the best cover was in Chilterns/Hertfordshire where everything, including rooftops and trees were still covered. Watford and outskirts of London much better covering than anything north of Rugby.

Chance of more snow tonight? What do u guys/girls reckon? Sun out here and cloud clearing SE, still very cold at 1.8C. Everything sopping wet outside and with the clear skies looks like some nasty conditions

I agree Surrey. I think lows will undercut the block dumping loads of snow in our region from next weekend :-)

Why is it all the snow is 4 or 5 days away? and when we get to zero hour it's been downgraded or it has disappeared.
