-4.2'c in Buxton this evening and with a further 12 hours of nightfall to come I would say the GFS estimate of -7'c is quite a conservative one. It can easily get down to -9'c if not more by the morning.

-3.1C here and dropping quickly. I'm near the town centre too

I sort of agree Ian ...but id prefer 2cm of snow.....from really cold weather that freezes solid for a week or so ala 2010...than 25 cm of snow thats ends in a sloppy mess two days later...if we do get a big snow fall is it likely to stick around or do we run the risk of an atlantic attact that gives snow followed by a return to milder temps?

Chris, if and its a massive if that GFS run happened you'd be fed up of the snow this time next week.

Temp here -1.4c. I do sometimes think my weather station is badly placed, or just plain crap.

BBC weather is showing no snow at all !!! But Metoff and Netweather are showing loads. Must be broken lol

My weather app just updated - had been showing sleet for us but now showing snow snow and more snow on Friday with wintry showers continuing throughout the weekend :-) :-) See you in the park !

Currently -2C here. I'd expect we'll reach somewhere in the region of -5/6C by morning cold.gif

That -15 in Jan '10 will take some beating. I remember steam coming out of the road drains!

Blimey-even the Wirral boys are getting excited!

Just chill guys-how many times have we had to suffer bone numbing cold, sunny cloudless skies and frosts for days-only for the front that we needed during those days to arrive and dump a load of rain on us, with temps miraculously rising.

Metcheck's forecast is plain weird...the weather warning chart shows no risk for NW England , yet on the day to day breakdown the have almost 3 days of snowfall for Wigan from friday onwards

I'm trying not to get excited but I can't help it. haha

My excitement (which has come to nothing thus far) has led to a week of only getting about 4 hrs of sleep a night. Feeling it now.

On the plus side I won £200 today :p

I only look at metcheck once in a while as I don't find it reliable but in saying that each time I have looked over the last week it has showed snow for this week.

The awkward moment when CreweCold sleeps through a once in a 25 year snowfall event due to lack of sleep chasing it for over a week. :p

Crewe - 3, Liverpool - 1, Runcorn -1, Hale -1, Preston -1.

Strange thing is, the Crewe is not that far South of us, and is alreadly pulling in some nice low temperatures ahead of the precipitation across Ireland.

Accu Weather going for a minimum of 6CM of snow for the South of The region for Thursday night, this was an update from this morning. Thursday night

through Friday could prove very interesting, if the amounts of snow forecast are only conservative, we could get a battering, but I would like to see

temperatures here a lot lower than they are, and I am surprised at only seeing -1 in an Easterly
