Got my fingers crossed for something like this!

I think over the many years we have had snow, I think we are 'owed' a dumping like this lol

Crewe - 3, Liverpool - 1, Runcorn -1, Hale -1, Preston -1.

Strange thing is, the Crewe is not that far South of us, and is alreadly pulling in some nice low temperatures ahead of the precipitation across Ireland.

Accu Weather going for a minimum of 6CM of snow for the South of The region for Thursday night, this was an update from this morning. Thursday night

through Friday could prove very interesting, if the amounts of snow forecast are only conservative, we could get a battering, but I would like to see

temperatures here a lot lower than they are, and I am surprised at only seeing -1 in an Easterly

-2 currently here in Wigan.

It's a bit chilly out there! The temp fell to zero around 15.30, currently -2.8c with a hard frost well and truly set in. smile.png

it -2.3 here

Hale -0.4C rising like backtrack's temp. A bit weird because Liverpool City centre is showing the same thing, while everyone else is going very cold. St Helens is only about 8/10 miles North West, Liverpool 10 Miles West, and Runcorn only a mile or two directly across the river.. some thing is afoot

Undoubtedly pulling in colder air from areas with elevation to our immediate east that have snow cover

Places like Leek and Mow Cop have snowcover I think

-3.4C now

A -10 can not be ruled out somewhere across the region, I edge my bets that it would be somewhere like Woodford.

Woodford is a fair bet, cold air over snowcover descending from the Pennines

My temperature is now starting to drop again, I wonder when and where that precip across Ireland will it the North West, or whether the colder air will keep it out there for a day or two

I only look at metcheck once in a while as I don't find it reliable but in saying that each time I have looked over the last week it has showed snow for this week.

I don't really pay that much attention to it , but in situations where snow is possible i look at a lot of sites (for reassurance i suppose), but i end up just doubting everything then

I was 4 way back then and although I don't remember the actual snowfall, I can remember not being able to ride my new Go-Kart because of lying snow on Christmas day. I'm thinking it's probably the same event although the snow in this part was not as deep as it is in your picture?

my sun loving mini weather station is reading -0.3oC feels colder than that!

when did you calibrate it last?

Is it an all in one weather station? If so most of these types of station's struggle with low temperatures. Where did you put the outside sensor? It should not be more than 5 feet off the ground, and it should be away from any sort of artificial heating.

I think some of us have Davis Pro station's in the garden, which don't suffer from the same problems.

The current outputs have a very distinct February 1996 look to them, which is the best snow event I can ever remember up here. Heres hoping! smile.png

Notice the upper air temps back in 1996 were a lot higher than what is currently being modelled.

I check mine with another local sensor about half a mile away on Metoffice WOW. I'm usually within 0.1C of this one.

%100 i don't really take much notice of the 18z , it's referred to as the pub run ,not just because of the time it rolls out but because it generally behaves in a very p***** manner, it and the 06z often fly in the face of the 00z and 12z, maybe it's to do with the data thats inputted into those models , but it rarely happens that all 4 GFS runs look similar, the 18z is the least accurate in my humble opinion.but i'm sure someone will have the stats to blow me out of the water Edited by Spurry

its a cheapo nasty one! my decent weather station is at my parents as i dont have anywhere to put it at my house! i need to school my mum in uploading the data to wunderground so i can get the data off there! its my own lazy fault and something i will be rectifying myself tomorrow haha!

doesnt help that the other weatherstation half a mile up the road has stopped putting there data on wunderground too :( closest is mossley which is always colder than here!
