Probably be another 24 hours waiting and watching before we can comment on down to the wire specifics, 18z rolling out in 30mins nearly time to frantically hit the F5 key :)

Oh dear, I've learned from past experience as soon as I warn family or friends about incoming bad weather you can guarantee it goes belly up! :p

We won't see a red warning of snow until there is an immediate danger to life, a red warning won't come to fruition until much closer to the event.

Waiting with bated breath for the 18z!

My area is still covered by the Meto amber warning, but I hope there isn't another shift south west because this will make the band very light by the time it reaches here. Still looking good for south western parts of the north west though.

Yes, i still fear this will happen unfortunately, really would be hacked off if we only get a couple of cms now, i would feel more comfortable if we were more towards the centre of the amber warning as generally they tend to over cook the area on warnings just to be on the safe side, a 50 mile eastward correction and i would not be ruling out totals near a foot, as it stands, i would bite your hand of for 10cm now.

Precip amounts are always likely to be fairly unlikely more than 12 hours from the event, even then nothing is certain.

I'm guessing MeteoGroup must do some sort of modification to their data before making it live?

Thanks for the replies :)

It's quite unusual that i have heard nothing through work , i work for the NHS and we usually get notified of any forecast severe weather so that contingency plans can be made , however not a peep so far , in fact if it wasn't for me everyone would be non the wiser....oh god i'm gonna feel such a prat on Friday when it rainscray.gif

Like others I'm worried about a potential south/west shift and/or the front weakening by the time it hits Manchester.

If you end up struggling then its probably game over for those further east so i am banking on Manchester taking a pasting!
