There must be 4 inches back home now - where's some local posters when you need them?!

Freezing Point had at least 4 inches just a few hours ago!! Paul Michael showed quite a bit in Wallsend.

I don't really see how there'll be less than half a foot by the end of tomorrow then! :D

Update. Not stopped here currently heavy snow intensity 8.5/10. snow depth looks to over 6", but unconfirmed as I have not measured. Temp fallen to -0.7c. wind has picked up and snow is blowing across the surface.

BBC seems to think it will just be cold and grey tomorrow which is a little surprising I have to admit looking at the output, thicknesses are not that low but they look low enough to create instability surely?

Indeed, that convective E'ly should dig in tomorrow morning with heavy snow shrs for much of the region (esp Northumberland), sorry nick!!!).

Sunday also carries the chance of some convection before a band of snow moves in from the S, and if the EC came off, over a ft in many places and deep frosts by next Friday!

To be fair BBC were still saying at 5pm that snow showers would be light this evening and fizzle out by midnight.....

Be interesting to see how the next hour pans out....it looks initially as though the front from the west is converging with the trough right over the north east and they are stalling each other's progress....

Monday looks eerily similar to the February 2nd-3rd 2009 event which gave loads of rain in the North East and washed away the snow.

MetO 5 Dayers going for sleet and snow for most of us and no mention of rain on the regional fcst.

Why esp Northumberland??

Still yet to see any heavy ppn here - nothing above yellow (briefly) on the NW radar. It's just not happening.

The shrs in the North Sea tmrw will mainly be further north it seems, with E Scotland and SE Scotland in the firing line, though the EC convection could be wrong, we want to see shower activity start moving in the southern North Sea overnight.

Mod to heavy here again, 8-9cm I think.
