The shrs in the North Sea tmrw will mainly be further north it seems, with E Scotland and SE Scotland in the firing line, though the EC convection could be wrong, we want to see shower activity start moving in the southern North Sea overnight.

So... another one of the events of this period that doesn't look like providing what it was expected to. Hmmmm.

I'll be honest, I've constantly been told today "it'll come... tonight when it swings Ely... tomorrow the convection"... but the intensity has gone now it's veering.. and tomorrow is forecast not to be great. It's pretty trying.

*Apparently* there's 15cm at home now. Dandruff snow starting again in Keswick.

Reading reports of quite rapidly rising DPs on the Yorkshire coast so that would tally with a much reducing southerly element to the air flow and more easterly

how do dewpoints alter airflow?

Cool and cloudy vs. Very cool and cloudy... and you think that's a fair swap for deep snow cf a dusting? ;) LOL ;)

The worst thing about this is that, although the last few years have produced a few of these, in general these events are rare... so for one to come along and you miss out by the odd mile while most get clobbered is, well - this is why I'm pretty down - the next chance for something like this might not be for many, many years.

they dont, but the point is that the more easterly element is coming straight off the relatively warm sea, whereas the more southerly flow is coming over land, which, is canny cold atm, so, rising DPs along the coastal strip can be a good indicator of an airflow modified by the 'warm' sea

cant believe its not hammering in Durham??? I guess the wind flow is favouring the Consett area due to some degree of orographic PPN
