If the met office radars are to be believed looks like here in seaton sluice we could have some more snow for a time to come, with the exception of a few breaks here and there.

The question is will it be snow or sleet.

Rain event on Monday on the 18z GFS. Still time for change as some of the other models are looking better, but don't be shocked if it happens.

Good to read all the reports of fresh snow over the NE this evening - as expected convection has kicked in. Had the front moved further north and east then this convection wouldn't have occured - so in many respects the NE has been helped enormously by how the front simply fizzled in situ as it hit NW England.

I'm trying my hardest to remain upbeat this evening despite looking onto grey surfaces all around, we really have been very unlucky today - hoping we might see some snow on Monday perhaps. We did see a few cms last Sunday and early Monday so I can't complain - but this has now dissapeared away from the fields.

I remain optimistic for Monday.

I swear there was a flash in the sky followed by a rumble of thunder!

Cramlington

I saw the flash from all the way in Fenham, never heard any thunder though.

This is going to be me now, panicking for the next few days about my beautiful snow cover being destroyed by all things marginal and sleety, can we not just ban those words?

Wind has now substantially increased and coupled with heavy snow, visibility has reduced dramatically, I can hardly see the street opposite. Does this count as a blizzard?

Looking at the uppers, tomorrow could see a thaw somewhat, don't expect many showers but we do attract a little bit more colder air again by tomorrow night so things could become less marginal somewhat.

The uppers don't fall below -7c and wind decreases.
