Moderate snow also right on SW coast of IOW. No sign on any sleet / melting at all. Not cold enough for significant drifting it seems though.

I thought it looked a bit sleety in Canford Heath!

No, it was good wholesome snow, I know I walked through it!

Radar does show the heaviest to have passed through already

Left home, with about an inch of cover, arrived in Bournemouth hardly much of note really, pavements have hardly any covering at all.

Of course very wet snow here right by the sea. Interesting looking out and seeing the lights by pier with the snow blowing around, looks like thick fog from this distance.

We have about 2cm in christchurch. But cousin In Poole says more there.

Looking at the radar, this band does not look that heavy and is fading fast.

Think all these warning are completely over the top.

I'm in Greenhill (near Colehill cricket pitch, so not too far from you). I hope there is enough snow in Poole/Bournemouth that work shuts, then any decisions are taken out of my hands, otherwise I'll be agonising over safety vs duty to work.

I am at work having travelled in from Poole to Bournemouth, it's almost clear down here in town.

Agreed there is more in Poole than down here in Bournemouth

Problem is that people are heading out and they are all going to get stuck out there! Even the M4 in South Wales has closed due to lorries getting stuck. They need to tell people DON'T MAKE UN NECESSARY JOURNEYS! At least the kids will be pleased. Just heard that their school is closed.

Now where did I put that sledge? drinks.gif

Easy arm chair snow watchig by using this website to look at the traffic cameras all over the UK (dont forget to tick "traffic cameras" at the top!):

This is the M4 near start of M49 / Avonmouth, looks open to me as keep seeing lorries going by, but what a covering, pretty bad! wouldn't want to be driving on that this morning.

Looking at the ECM 00z it paints a potentially very snowy week to come with no mild weather I.e generally max 850s -3 to -8 for the next 10 days.

Now I do like the sound of that!

Oh well I guess winters not over and there's always hope for a beautiful summer.

Feel let down by forecasters though

OK, thanks. Reckon I'll probably be braving the roads then. I'll be driving very very slowly, however, and let work know not to expect me to be on time.

Maybe listen to the posts and watch BBC breakfast... Hmm considering it is falling near Rushhour these warnings are bang on..
