One of the best surprise snow events ever yesterday , we may get a couple of cm,s if lucky but now 7cm of fresh snow and counting. -1.5 and now wind is increasing . Possibly 6-7 more hours of this :)

BBC has that going miles north, just watched it

Could well do, but I wouldn't assume just off a BBC forecast right now. Radar watching is the best forecast there is for how this ends.

Hhmmmm I don't think we've seen the end of the snow today just yet, not looking at the radar

Snow only started settling on the main roads towards the late afternoon, it may have very briefly turned a little sleety in the afternoon. However, its snowing quite heavily now and it appears from the radar that there may be a lot more to come this evening ...

Might have to pop in the east mids thread I think, radar looks like they may be getting some quite heavy snow soon?

Mmm, looking at the radar it doesn't seem to be able to get north, it seems to hit a wall then slides off west, which is good for us, an interesting few hours of radar watching to come.....

Wind must be ESE as this front is just moving at a snail pace north. We could still get 6 more hours out of this, if it does not fizzle out.

Looks like the band is intensifying to the south west of Bham. Would expect places in Worcestershire are currently seeing heavy falls. But the radar showed some signs of this shifting north wards up 1745 to effect the Bham area for a few more hours yet.

The latest bbc forecast shows this band eventually progressing northwards over night.

Expect school closures now quite widely.
