Did you get the v heavy shower around an hour ago? Left a covering of wet snow here. Clouding over again now. Temp back up a bit at 1.7c. Will drop I suspect with precipitation. Daughters pals away up to said laws with their boards. A bit optimistic perhaps?

Yeh. In snow, thaw cycle just now. Hope that from this evening onwards it will stick better between showers. Sitting right on the margin so don't require huge changes. As LS mentioned earlier today or yesterday at some point, there was a lot of this in 2010. Remember days with lovely convective showers and ice then as little as 3hour periods when trees and roofs started to drip then ice again. So even in the coldest spells, there are fluctuations. I'd not be surprised at all to have a spell tonight with reasonable selling snow as we cross the margin.

Hopefully the front coming up from the south late Sunday into Monday will deliver for those who've had very little snow so far.

There's a lot of precipitation associated with that front, and there could be 24 hrs+ of snowfall in places judging from the latest output. However, those on or near the coast might suffer from the typical 'marginality' issues. Places inland should see substantial amounts.

Looks as if Fife could be in for a fair few showers now? They do appear to be lining up. Another heavy one ongoing here.

Might be a bit luckier tonight than last night hopefully! Very heavy at the moment. Just watched News24 forecast and they are really just concentrating on the south eastern areas. At least that's what it looked like to me. Would rather make do with LS's forecasts anyway as his are far more accurate. Hope someone tells him that he can't go out tonight!laugh.png

we should sign a petition :)

We seem to be sitting in between the north Fife and south Fife convection bands again, convection lines are starting to shift around a bit again though so this is likly to keep shifting for a bit until a better defined streamer sets up.

Could that happen? Does that all rely on what hits the SE and then supposedly travels up the country. Kinda lost the thread with regards to that.

Shame it doesn't say what the precipitation will actually be...

Here's the 12z NAE rain/snowfall forecast for the 6hrs to midnight Sunday. (The next frame will be the main one of interest for many when it comes out):

Temperatures on the way down, last shower was pretty light though heavier on the Lomonds so another slightly different vector in evidence.

Also, NAE for 9am Monday:

950s fine:

13012109_1912.gif

850s reasonable:

13012109_1912.gif

DPs fine

13012109_1912.gif

Precipitation on:

13012109_1912.gif

13012112_1912.gif

If it still looks like this at +6 it's going to be quite a special event.

do u not think they total ppn charts look a little light as we are bount to see showers ratting in before the front arrives and from memory usually when there is a front with the winds coming right in off the sea they tend to be heavier
