When you've experienced January 1987 and February 1991 on top of the North Downs yesterdays 'event' was truly minuscule in comparison!! Dire really

Slight shift east of the ppn for tomorrow. Better news for coasties. As it keeps the milder sector a touch further away.

GFS going for 5-10cm across the board.

Then again the 6z run has a habit of pushing things east. All change for the 12's I suspect!

As Halling said though. It will be gut wrenching for us coasties.

It is very dark here, ominous even! Something flying around in the breeze, but I gotta say, it looks very much like sleet! No no no no no!

How's things at your end of the river, Shrimper?

I can't believe you peeps that missed out are ramping the same old tired predictions and models that have now been consistently wrong for over a week!

The maligned bbc 5 day forecast online has proven to be the most reliable during our time 'in the fridge' (note fridge, not freezer!)

They weren't exactly wrong yesterday? I'm pretty sure quite a few are seeing snow on the ground?! Yea it was hit and miss the further east it went but that was kind of expected. We were just hoping something could push a bit further east.

I beg to differ, couldn't have been 'wronger'.

Suppose it depends on your definition of 'heavy', 'widespread' and 'disruptive'.

Managed about a cm overnight.

A few light showers all morning, not doing much!

Temp 1.2c which is worrying.

Morning all :)

Indeed, a gentle thaw overnight and current temperature +0.9c indicative of that. I was out just before the snow started and it was incredibly cold - I recorded -1.9c and an E'ly wind of 15 mph which provides a pretty significant windchill.

Since then, the temperature has risen slowly as it often does with snow and we moved back above freezing in the early hours. I don't know if this is the urban "heat island" effect or whether we have imported some warmer air via mixing.

It does look as though we will get a second shot of cold and snow tomorrow and Monday before the gentle thaw resumes on Tuesday.

Posting up the Snow Depth challenge draw again, so those of you entered + Pauls sweepstake entries can keep tabs on how you and opponents are doing, share the info with each other, its a nice warm and friendly place in here!

Half/time in the match-ups is 18.00hrs today and if you can post your depth at that time, it would give me great pleasure, I'm easy to please. So I want to see this thread empty at precisely 6.00 pm, as you should all have your 6"rulers in hand (steady!), you may have more of course, and plunge them into your own personal snow heaven (Ok I'm turning into the Nigella Lawson of Net Weather now) and post your total please. I will promise to put on my best BBC accent and give the you Half/Time scores, as in.

Will tomorrows snow deliver the goods for the easterners again or will it turn "marginal" and finally is Steve Murr in Belmarsh as the Drug Squad catch him with 3 inches of powder outside a pub on the top of Box Hill, all we be revealed later!

Regards,

Tom.
