Only a very minor event here on the east Essex Suffolk border so far. Maybe more to come, but from the reports in the London and SE thread a much bigger event in the south and West of the region, which must be a surprise.

Wish we could have snow like Feb 1991, and Jan 1987 then I wouldn't have to struggle to work tomorrow.

Around 6cm fresh snow since 9am , persistent steady snow and still going .... East luton

Just a quick reminder to Alessio42 and any other new members, or those who haven't already done so to please put your locations in your profiles. Its handy when reporting snow fall to know where you are.

You can do this by clicking on your profile (top right hand corner), then clicking "edit profile". Add your location and save - thanks !

Still snowing in MK, light still but the odd few minute burst of heavier stuff then back to light small flakes again. Keeps getting deeper & deeper, up to 12cm again now on the grass behind my flat, so 6 or 7cm fallen since 9am.

Feels colder too, turned the heating up and just got a huge helping of shepherds pie out of the freezer for dinner later, nom nom blum.gif

In rear garden slightly more sheltered than out my front, measurement just under 8cm. So about 5-6cm today. I would say looking at radar still a good few hours to go and I am just far enough East to be in slightly heavier PPN than those to my west.

Afternoon all.

Snow has really picked up in intensity over the past hour and a half. Haven't measured it yet, though 2 inches (5cm) perhaps outside with more to come!

Have noticed that the band of snow on the Western flank is narrowing very quickly indeed! Was snowing in Swindon earlier, snow line almost back to Oxford now and still moving NE. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Is the front fragmenting, the midlands area of snow could be breaking away from the main area.

Not a single flake all day in Norwich - Jan 2010 all over again for us by the looks of it

Nice piece of reverse psychology by me here - Level 5/6 snow for the last 5 minutes or so

Slightly bigger flakes appearing now, or it is maybe just wishfulthinking. Looking at the SE thread, seems as though Croydon are getting it good. Still think we may get in on the heavier action, or thats what im hoping anyway :)

Hi Ben, I've had around 6cm now, still coming down quite heavy, what do you think the chances of that load over the North sea making it this far south?

Yes Cheshunt seems to have been in a similar band of PPN to my location for several hours. Looks good for at least a few more hours.
