Isn't the pink or orange colour caused by the ice crystals?

Looking at the radar at present i expect some snow around 9:30ish

I'm only in wallasey so we will get the same as Birkenhead hopefully. Fingers crossed anyhow.

technically the radar is showing light ppn over most of Manchester City now so that has already crossed over the Snake Pass area

I agree but whether this continues and we get something with decent intensity spreading into the region remains to be seen.

A good start, though.

Looks like a big amount of snow just east of here, hopefully it has enough energy to push in further

I have seen different explanations from "snow is a good reflector off street lights" to "means heavier precipitation" I'm keen to believe heavier as I always notice the sky go pink when it's heavy.

would love to......but might struggle to get through the drifts. There are boxes of washing powder everywhere here. 2.5c....almost the lowest today! Edited by Chris Henderson
