Morning all. Great to hear some good totals coming in! Not to be this time round for us. Heavy sleet rattling against the window all night on a mega strong Easterly gale!

Just turned snowy now and starting to lay too with a good layer of slushy wet snow on the roads can't see it being an issue though

.

Temp 0.6C with dew point of 0.4C.

22cm here in the high Dales above Skipton. Drifts up to around 4 feet in places. School run is going to be fun!

Many thanks Aaron, hopefully it'll keep coming down for a while.

Had to use a torch to give enough illumination for the autofocus to operate, the flash did the rest.

Less in Skipton itself, although biggest dumping of the winter thus far... BBC says heavy snow this pm. Where's that coming from?

Some people are suggesting Sheffield hasn't done well and that there was only 3-4cm?

I Live at average height for Sheffield and I can confirm there have been over 20cms of snow. I will measure later, it's at least 20cms and it's still snowing albeit lightly.

My mum lives in the lowest part of Sheffield and she tells me that the roads are awful and this is the worst since 2010.

So where is Sheffield there has been 3-4cms I'm not quite sure.

This is turning out to be an awesome event for Sheffield.

Mornin' all

just been out to clear the car off for the other half. it was clear last night after she'd come back (around 8:45pm) and there was 5 1/2" standing snow on it's roof clapping.gif

when it gets lighter, I'll nip out and take some pics, as it's still falling and I've got another car I can use to get an overall total so far smile.png

edit: I should add, her car was partially under a tree!

I'm only going to moan about this once but the North of York has fared very poorly last night.

Rain washed away at least 1cm which has been topped up by 2cm overnight.

Drive to work from Strensall to Linton was a doddle even on the backroads.

Right, moan over and i'm glad for all of you who did well.

Radar looks pretty good for a few more hours of snow, albeit light, lots of little flakes in a breeze.

"winter maintenance manager" from sheffield council (gritter bloke) on bbc radio sheffield just now:

"the snow set to continue, we're doing our best, but it could well get worse again. it's definitely not over and we've got another day to go before we can really start to get on top of it"
