Oh, and temp was 2.3c around an hour ago so dropped very quickly

Got off my bum and had a proper look, where had thawed has been covered in proper snow again!

Moderate sleet here. Temp 1.3c. I note that the temp has not been dropping as much as it did in the showers yesterday. Likely the wind. Until that drops off, there is not a chance of proper snow here.

Surprised Freezing point is reporting sleet because the PPN here is all wintry, albeit its mainly snow grains rather than snowflakes. I know this because the snowgrains have now settled on the wet surfaces(Eg roofs) and has given a light dusting.

Things are swinging our way it seems, shame it took so late in the day to do so.

I don't see how it's going to stay with you for long... system seems to be moving north at a fair rate.

Certainly no settling here. Just been out to the car to get my gloves in and I can confirm on the windscreen its sleet.

I can see what you you're saying, but what about that clump making its way around East Anglia? It seems reluctant to line up behind the rest of the streamer and may join in on it's southerly flank

That's the stuff hitting us from the E at 4-6ish in the upcoming morning.

I haven't got a handle on this, IF... so the winds are veering more directly E'ly at that time which should push that feature into us?

I have not seen anything like this. 10 mins ago it was 1.3c and sleet. I just check the temp and its 0c. Proper snow which is instantly lying on all surfaces. Ah....the wind has almost gone

This system is coming in from the south. The band outside EA and what's north of it will come in from the S/SE and tilt/curve into us from the E in the early hours. Still snowing here, will hopefully have more than 11cm when I measure tomorrow morning.

Seems to be less snow grains around here and more snowflakes but very small in nature and more than likely quite wet in nature, the easterly breeze has died down a heck of alot though which is probably explains why things are more wintry around here.

The trough shows up nicely on the radar and looks like the dividing line between the strong

easterly winds and the much lighter south-easterly i have here.

At 1900 we had:

11cm here, 8 miles from the coast at 49m asl

5cm at my grans, 6 miles from the coast at 26m asl

Shows just how localised the differences are around here, and for much of the region. I think most of the northern part of the region should see top-ups tonight, before most of the coastal strip and slightly further inland see some tomorrow morning. Convection-wise, the EC goes for shrs skirting the coast until the winds veer more E/ENE later on tomorrow- so radar watching time I'm sure.
