Got a few snow flakes here in darlo again

All of this mornings snow has gone now and amazingly the council sent a gritter down my road have to say Darlington council are doing a grand job this winter the town centre pavements are clear and safe the main roads are fine and they even have gritters on the back of the pavement sweepers

yeah i agree like i said the other day one went down my road for the first time ever, yeah the snow has melted leaving the snow we had before it started which is weird but i suppose the old snow will be colder having frozen overnight

really i thought the next cold spell would be around the 4-7th feb

Yeah the bulk of the snow left now is from last week and earlier this week all the recent top up falls are melting fairly quickly

The snow still around is mainly because the sun (when its out) isn't getting on it where the sun does hit it its melting and turning it to slush and of course last week it was much colder so it froze over

The bulk of the remaining snow will be gone either during the weekend or early next week depending on when it turns milder or the rain arrives just depends on which comes first

The met office are going for mid month

However, colder weather and below average temperatures then probably come to dominate once more towards mid-month. In terms of rain and snowfall, southern parts in particular will probably start wetter than average, but trend to nearer normal by mid-month, while the north will probably see drier than average conditions for much of the period.

So that suggests drier and colder to me from mid February for us in the north

Heavy rain in Boro! What a disaster

This whole cold spell has been for this area! Lets get DRY again and get a nice northerly that would actually do something here lol.

Sounds like low pressure to the south to me, could be quite a snowy pattern.

Looks like it'll be getting rather soggy soon, a slow thaw seems to have set in now and the snow which fell earlier is already melting!

Travelled from Easington, sky was very dark, dare I say it rather thundery looking, I was half expecting a rumble of thunder. Still looks dark out there and there are some big snowflakes / soft hail falling mixed in with small ice pellets and rain, a rather odd mix of stuff falling.

Not for the whole area. Nunthorpe is less than five miles to Middlesbrough town centre and we still have over six inches of snow.
