Not 3c as someone as said but 1.3c started to slow down and become much lighter now

With a covering of 1.3cm from the last hour and a half

I was beginning to put your posts down to the misguided policy of care in the community, but I have changed my mind now that I see that you can measure snowfall so accurately.

Amber warnings for London, Surrey and the Home Counties soon surely, the heavy snow in the channel should be hitting London area bang on for the rush hour

We're a bit out of the threads region, but we are under the same band of PPN as M Fish is under, and I can report large 50p flakes...

Yes, we have had that as well. But is it settling?

I'm going for 5, 5 and 3 making a pretty rubbish average of 4.3333. Must try harder

I very much doubt that band will head north, it's been hugging the coast all day!

Disagree mate, looking at the radar it just hit land at Portsmouth, the other end heading slowly north towards Bognor / Worthing, it's coming

+1,7c

DP -2.7c

Grey skies, weather is now raw and, to me at least, uninspiring.

Temp and DP have fallen back again. Sleety snow shower about an hour ago, very brief. All stil thawing outside. Completed lovely task of clearing up after dog in garden through slushy snow. No doubt full thaw will reveal more work still to be done.... Delightful!

So what is your prediction for London? I'm meant to be going into work later, should I go?

Only sleet here, nothing much to come in the near future for most of us looking at the last few radar runs, except that heavier bunch of showers off the South coast have started moving in towards Chichester/Portsmouth which may give something to those in the far SW of our region.

Hello London and the South East. Here are the scores as given by the jury in Shoeburyness:

Synoptics 5/10 - nothing that looked as if it would deliver much for South East Essex

Snowfall 4/10 - less than other areas and far less than memorable winters past

Frosts 3/10 - the odd few this winter, although by the time the cold snap ends at the weekend we will have had two weeks of very low daytime max temps

Total 4/10

As for snowmaggedon later on, I think sleetmaggedon or possibly snizzlemaggedon is nearer the mark. Then again, cloudmaggedon would be my hunch..

4" widely in the areas underneath that band, 6" in the sweet spot is my prediction, depends how quickly it moves up

From that small band of showers off the South Coast???

They seem to be moving NW, so can't see that changing, while there is sod all ppn in Northern France right now, so nothing much to feed over the Dover Straight as far as I can see.

It definitely will not make it here. It's already showing signs of fragmenting and as soon as it gets caught in the flow of the low pressure it will head west north west towards northern Dorset, then it will die a death.
