Initial light burst of snow here, turned the grey roads back to white were I live, but it feels a little wet - need heavier stuff they are getting out to the west.

Im disappointed because I missed all the fun today. I just wish I took a day off. It started to rain here now.

Is it? Damn it, will have go and have a look, living room at the back and cant see anything cause its dark in back garden, although i thought it was rain before but looking at the snow cover couldnt see any holes in the snow

Yeah could be, although this seems a little icier and not as white. whatever it is it's still laying and not melting the snow cover

Well the end of the cold spell is certainly going out in style! Not often Cumbria experiences full on blizzards like this, utter chaos in parts of the county.

Eccles is not very high elevation is it?, i used to live in neighbouring Salford and that was ony about 100ft if i remember rightly, not sure how these other reports of sleet a lot further East and higher up can be true.

Plain old rain/drizzle at the moment here. It isn't melting the snow though, hopefully we'll get some snow from the heavy precipitation moving north and intensifying now form just south of us.
