We now have snow, not heavy enough to start settling. It looks like wet snow but I'm not going out to find out

Aye, heavy enough to have restored the full covering from this morning. Now will it keep going long enough to deliver more than just a cm or two ?

Hopefully Pennine. There is more on the horizon for this week as well.

I was thinking this cold spell was going to be a really good cold spell, when did it become so diluted?

About 90% snow/sleet here, blowing hard in the wind but not settling, will need more PPN. Dew point just above 0c.

Basic guide to snowfall for anyone (like me) a bit new to the requirements for the lovely white stuff:

Just driven to work, moderate to heavy snow falling. The very top of the hills were white again, with white roads. Dropping down just a few metres and the roads just have patches of white and very, very slushy.

It looks like it's going to be a good night (and I'm going to get stuck here I the morning! :) )

The winds blowing through the trees too

Heavy snow (not as heavy as Tuesday) now. Covered side roads, pavements and grass very quickly and surprisingly given the wet surfaces. Got to say this has been a good year for Sheffield for the number of individual snowfalls and even the depths. Loving winter 12/13.

Subzero dew point is crucial, snow should settle at that point regardless of how wet the ground is.
