Another distinctly raw day today here in North Wilts.....overcast skies, a biting breeze and occasional sleety flurries......I'm certainly looking forward to some proper spring like weather hopefully in the not too distant future!

I know i've been moaning a bit lately but to be honest, the weather is'nt to bad at the moment.

At least its dry,got a lot of garden work done, had a big bonfire today.

I would take this weather rather than strong sw winds and driving rain. Thats probably reserved for the summer!!

Did any other parts of the region have very gusty NE winds overnight? I'm guessing as the trough mentioned by Ian on yesterday's Points West passed over.

Current temperature is 3.0c but it actually feels colder than that currently. Wasn't expecting it to feel quite as cold today.

Obviously like everyone else, the skies are grey again. Can't see this going anywhere for a while yet either, aside from some brighter interludes into the weekend.

Sounds like good grayling fishing weather to megood.gif

Thought you fish for them in the winter?

Overcast skies, clear water, go for it.

Looking at the GFS 6Z,the one thing that sticks out for me is the persistance of a east or south east wind.

Apart from a couple of days around the beginning of low res,the whole run has an eastely bias.

As a commercial fisherman working in falmouth bay, this is nothing short of a disaster, as it throughs up,on shore seas with larger sea states.

Normally, east winds only have a longevity of a few days before some sort of break but just at the moment they seem relentless.

Good job i do some garden work on the side because fishing at the moment is a no no.

for some of us though it's our livelyhood.....I'm a fish merchant and without good catches my customers don't get their orders, and I don't have an income etc etc

Anyone else get some unexpected rain overnight? It's wet outside here! Not a bad thing I suppose, because the water levels really need topping up....

Ok I appreciate that, although there are other jobs you could do and I just think humans should know better than to kill things, because if the ocean dies then so do we. I don't want to offend you though but we really will beg to differ on this subject...

Anyway, I am so desperate to see some sun! lol I'm starting to forget what it looks like ha ha Oh well a couple more months and we should start to see some warm weather showing up :) I have a good feeling about this summer, I think it'll be a good one or maybe it's because after the last few summers we really do deserve a cracking summer ;)

Inshore fishing boats, sustain our fisheries, More handline caught fish on sale now, The factory ships and indiscriminate trawling been issues with fish stocks, All down to demand for cheap food, Most fish are preditors and quite happily eat each other, Not a fairytale world out there,,,,,,,,,Guys go out on daily basis in all weathers, doing a tough job, Only buy sustainable fish from our local fisherman, Hope the quotas policy will change January 2014, The amount of fish disgarded is just stupid policy,,,,,,,,,,,Ask Cornish Snow about his passion for protection of Bass stocks, guarantee it's foremost in his mind
