My little pond waterfall frozen, Daffs defying the cold icy wind,,,,,,, Winters last icy embrace?

Had daffs out two weeks, staying fresh looking in cold weather,

Would show you a picture of my daffs but they are not even showing yet! acute.gif

Still few flakes fluttering down.

In the day temps are fairly low 1/2C but in the night it doesnt drop that low and thats because of mere fact that there is cloud. If there was clear skies tonight, no doubt most place will reach -5C. As with the frost, breezy wind, cloud cover and dry air all equate to no frost.

I meant that i'm yet to see any significantly low temps all Winter, December saw the lowest temp.

Personally speaking it hasn't been one to remember.

Interesting, have just looked around the area, and EGHH (Bournemouth Airport) is reporting 59%. I live on heathland where it is very much stony and dry, so the difference "could" be possible. Down on the harbour the RH is only 68% and there's a heck of a lot of water there, so to be honest I don't think I'm seeing a problem with humidity measurement right now.

The only reason i mentioned it is because i i noticed Branksome's weather site showing extremely low humidity on the MO WOW map.

post-15177-0-34724500-1361623535_thumb.p

a 20% difference is massive, especially between locations less than 20 miles away. laugh.png

I had a similar problem with an old station once, i checked the thermohygrometer to find a few bugs and spidey's squatting in it.

I cleaned it up and changed batteries etc .. and it was much closer to surrounding areas. Just a thought! smile.png

Forgot to say, morning low of 0.4°C

Currently it's 2.2°C with a dew point of -2.2°C and the apparent temp is -1.9°C

Snow grains falling here too. sleep.png

In Warminster snow has been flurrying ever since I woke up at 07.00 ; sometimes with grains, sometimes with proper flakes, sometimes as graupel (as right now) and sometimes enough to call it proper light snow rather than a flurry. With the sky increasingly brightening since midday there's some sunny spells along with the flurries, some people saying it's boring but here these conditions are actually fascinating!

Exactly the same here today.

We drove up to Glastonbury yesterday under similar skies, but with only intermittent very light snow. It was cold enough in the town, but the wind at the top of the tor was biting.

Needless to say, we didn't hang around up there. The warmth of the pub was much more inviting.

Whilst this may not be to everyone's liking, I will accept the following forecast as for the most part, it continues the same general theme of dry but chilly weather, alongside the potential for some wintriness at times. drinks.gif

UK Outlook for Thursday 28 Feb 2013 to Saturday 9 Mar 2013:

Much of early March is likely to see below average temperatures, with a greater-than-average incidence of frost. Nearer average temperatures should see out February however, with rain over northwestern Scotland weakening markedly as it moves south towards next weekend. Brighter, colder and more showery conditions should follow from the north, with these showers wintry over hills. Next weekend should start mainly dry but rather cold despite sunny spells, however there is an increasing likelihood of more unsettled and breezier conditions developing in the north later, with some snow possible. These cloudier conditions with outbreaks of rain, sleet and hill snow may then spread south into the new working week. Colder-than-average conditions look to remain dominant towards the end of the period, although some lengthy dry periods are also likely.

One thing i think i can say with certainty is that the farmers down here are loving this weather.

Last few days has seen fields of plastic appear now that the ground is drying out. Increadible really just how quick this seems to have happened.

A dry gale force east wind,i'am sure, must have helped. Makes walking the dogs more enjoyable anyway.

Good job my water butts are full, probably be a hose pipe ban in a few weekstease.gif

I can confirm we are experiencing light snow showers here in Jersey at the moment so I could almost safely assume that Guernsey has the same smile.png

Same as everyone else, the odd light flurry throughout the day. currently 1.3c and the humidity has been slowly going up. I'm just happy that its dry, so much easier walking around the fields.
